Adrian slowly opened his eyes which was hard since they felt so heavy. Then he looked around to find himself in his room on his own bed. He smiled, he was alive, and home but no one was in the room. That was weird. He strained his ears to see if he could hear anyone in the hall, but he didn’t hear any footsteps. It was like no one was here. It was weird, too weird.

Maybe everyone was in another part of the castle. That was what he would like to think anyway. Adrian slowly tried to sit up, but he was still so weak that he fell back down. He tried a few more times, but after a while, he gave up. It wasn’t worth it, not right now anyway.

He tried to think of where everyone could be? Perhaps they were in a meeting about something, or maybe they were just busy. Or maybe, he was thinking about this way too much. But not even Aleigha was here, which didn’t seem like her. That part made him worry. What if something was wrong?

As Adrian thought this, he had a bad feeling in his gut, something about Aleigha. He felt like she was gone, but that couldn’t be true; it couldn’t be. He had promised that nothing would happen to her, not on his watch. His heart began to race against his chest, and it raced so hard that he could feel it beat his chest like someone was punching him. If what he thought was true, then it would explain why everyone was quiet. They were probably looking for Aleigha.

Adrian threw the covers off as he swung his legs from the bed. He then gripped the bedpost with his hands and gently lifted himself to his feet, never letting go of the bedpost. He looked down at his legs which were shaking uncontrollably. He was afraid if he let go of the bed that he would fall to the floor. After taking a deep breath, Adrian let go of the bed. His legs still shook as he tried to find his balance, but it seemed like he would never find it, then after a while, he did. He then walked toward the door to see where everyone was and to keep his promise to Aleigha.

Percy handed a small bag of gold coins to the rabbit. “It was nice doing business with you,” Percy said.

“I hope we can do it again, perhaps soon,” the rabbit said as he looked down at the bag of coins that he now held.

Percy looked at the rabbit with a grin on his face, “I would like that very much, and there’s one more thing I would like you to do. If you happen to run into Leo, I want you to tell him this.” Percy paused for a minute, trying to think of the rights words to say. Then he continued, “Tell him that I have his beloved sister, and if he doesn’t bring my precious Tara back to me, then I will have to kill his sister. And tell him if he doesn’t hurry, then she might be dead anyway.” Percy almost laughed afterward at the words he had spoken.

The rabbit smiled as he spoke, “Oh, I’ll tell him all right, and it will be fun to see the look on that ugly face of his.” The rabbit then walked off with the bag of coins.

Percy then went to check on his prisoner and smiled, an evil smile, as he looked at her hard and saw that she had been crying, which made him feel wonderful. He walked over and grabbed her roughly by the arms, pulling her to her feet. Aleigha screamed and wiggled to get free from him. He laughed as he tightened the grip on her arm, making her cry out.

Tear’s coursed down her face as he turned her face toward him and grabbed it tightly in his vice-like grip. Aleigha fought back, trying not to look at him, but he forced her to. He bored into her eyes with hatred and disgust as he said, “You’re coming with me to my home, and don’t worry my dear, it will be far worse than this, so I’d save those tears of yours for later if I were you.” He then released her face and dragged her outside into the cold, windy storm.
