Daggler came up to Duncan. “What do ye want from me?” Duncan said, his voice tense, he clasped the hilt of claymore tighter.
“I have your brother boy, and I will kill him unless you do something for me, so do we have deal?” Daggler said, smiling evilly.
“Ye lie! Sandy is dead! Ye donnae have him and I will never do anything for ye, ye killed me parents!”
“Yes, and I’m sorry about that.” Daggler looked anything but sorry as he went on, “But I have evidence that your brother is alive.” Daggler motioned to a soldier and the soldier handed him a scarf. Daggler then extended the scarf for Duncan to inspect.
Tears came to Duncan’s eyes, it was Sandy’s! He was alive, but this monster had him. He looked up at Daggler, “I will do whatever it takes to get me brother back.” He hated to agree to anything, hated the thought of helping Daggler but he had to get Sandy back.
“Good, I will meet you here tomorrow and if you don’t do exactly what I tell you to do then I will kill your brother, and I don’t lie boy,” Daggler said, harshly, then he turned and left.
Duncan felt a gentle hand laid on his shoulder. “You don’t know what you just agreed to do, do you? I know Daggler and whatever you just agreed to is not going to be rewarded with anything or anyone. He doesn’t care for anyone and he has no honor.”
Sandy walked over to the creek and bent down beside it. He splashed some water on his face and then dried some of it off with his shirt. It was a pretty day it wasn’t too cold, and it wasn’t too hot. There was a nice breeze blowing, but none of this mattered to him. He stuck his head in the cold water and thought about Jenny and Duncan. Jenny was dead, he would never see her again, the thought hurt him, and he didn’t want to think about. Not right now anyway. And Duncan, well he knew he could never face Duncan. He took his head out of the water and shook it. He was about to sit up when he felt a sword placed against his back. What now?
“Donnae move traitor or ye are dead rabbit. Now, get up slowly and put yer hands up.”
Sandy didn’t know who this rabbit was? He stood wondering how they had found him, he didn’t even know where he was, and he had been here for a while. But he knew now that he was found he was as good as dead.

#Jenny4life
Jenny was young when her younger brother was born. The first thing she said when she saw him was “mam, why’s der a potater? I don like no potater.”
Her brothers will grieve her for as long as they live, and they will never eat a potato because she didnt like them. #Jenny4life
Grrrr....why is it always my favorite characters that get killed? 😭 Still, can't wait for the next chapter. This one leaves so many questions.
Oh, the conflicting emotions!!! And I gotta know who's behind Daggler! The suspense... Well written, M.P.G.! You are great at cliffhangers that keep readers coming back.
(No pressure about writing - I know how busy school can get. And YAY about the mandolin! How exciting!)
Oh dear... I was hanging on to one last thread of hope that Jenny was alive. Oh bitter sadness.😣
Awhwhwhwh! No!! 😭😭 Wonderfully written! Btw, pretty cool about learning Mandolin! I'd love to learn to play that one day!
I agree with @Jo4life I want to cry.
