He closed his eyes and readied himself for the pain that would come. He would die all because he had stolen a basket of carrots. He thought that it was all over when he heard a voice. It was a familiar voice and he had never been happier to hear it, it was Duncan!

“Let me brother go now, unless ye* want to die,” Duncan said his voice fierce.

He opened his eyes and saw that Duncan stood with his claymore pointed at the rabbits back.

“Ye heard me, dear, older brother, now let me go,” he said, hoping this worked.

The rabbit smiled at him as he let go of his shirt, he fell to the ground. Landing in wet, squishy mud.

“That was a really nice way to let a wee* lad go, now wasn’t it,” Duncan said his eyes on the rabbit, he then looked to him and said, “Sandy, on yer* feet.”

Sandy got up and tried to balance himself, but instead of finding his balance he fell back in the mud. This was not how he had thought this night would go. He laid there in the mud as the rain continued to pour down on him. Could this night have gone any worse?

He watched as his brother talked to the rabbit. They yelled at each other for a little while and then the rabbit marched off in the rain, with the basket of carrots. Duncan then walked over to him and offered him a hand.

“I donnae* want any help from ye, laugh why donnae ye or scold me, but remember that I’m not that muckle* younger than ye!” Sandy said, in anger. He didn’t like it when rabbits treated him like he was kid. He was not a kid; he wasn’t much younger than Duncan and Duncan wasn’t his parents. His anger wasn’t all towards Duncan, but Duncan was the only one here to vent his anger and frustration on. “I’m tired of ye acting like yer me mother and father, because yer nae* them and ye never will be!” He said as he got up and ran off.

The last thing he heard was Duncan yelling his name.
