Sandy turned around he couldn’t believe what he saw there. Laying on the ground with a knife stuck in her chest was Jenny. It was all his fault and now he was in danger. He would have to go somewhere no one could find him. Shook his head, then looked around. All of the rabbits were focused on Jenny, this was his chance. He ran for it, never looking back, he couldn’t bear to.
He ran for a while and then he stopped by the river gasping for breath. He looked for any sign of a boat, something to escape in or on. There were no boats to his right, he looked to his left, there was a little boat there. It was pulled up on the riverbank, just a little pleasure boat. He ran over to it and jumped in the swallow river pushing the boat out into the current before hopping in. HE let the current take him and sat there his anger beginning to mingle with shame. He didn’t want Duncan to see him, he would be disappointed. Sandy knew he would, he was the reason a doe had been killed, it was his fault how could he ever forgive himself for that. He thought of all this before falling asleep.
Months later:
Duncan worked hard for months, he had a house to live in now, but he couldn’t stop thinking about his brother. Sandy was dead and he couldn’t believe it. Sandy had been all he had left and now he too was long gone. Now he was alone, and it didn’t seem right. He wiped the sweat from his head as he chopped wood. He then went and sat on a log and put his hands on his knees and sobbed quietly feeling the full weight of his loneliness. He missed them so much, his father, his mother, and Sandy! He then heard a doe’s voice say, “Are you okay young one?”
He looked up to see the older doe he was working for, standing there. “I think so miss,” He said around the sob that was stuck in his throat.
“Well there is something bothering you, you were crying. Now tell me what is wrong,” she said as she laid a hand on his arm.
He was about to tell her everything when he saw something. Rabbits, several of them, but they weren’t any rabbits they were Daggler and his band. Duncan stood up and drew his claymore. He then looked at the doe and said, “Ye get behind me.” She nodded and stepped behind him.

#Jenny4Life I almost cried about Jenny - that's so tragic! Wow... I feel Sandy's guilt and sorrow keenly. I'm excited for the next chapter to discover who the doe is and how Duncan deals with old Daggler. *spit* 😉
