I hope you guys like it cause I have mixed feelings about it, so yeah….
Jaidie
Rain followed Bobbe through the streets of Newcity. He wasn’t sure where Bobbe was taking him but he hoped they got there soon, he didn’t know how much further his blistered feet would take him. He was so tired, but he pressed on, ignoring the glares that the passing rabbits gave them.
Rain wasn’t sure why everyone kept glaring at him, but he didn’t like it, it made him uncomfortable. Maybe they would get to wherever Bobbe was taking him soon. He didn’t like being in crowds especially one this big. Finally, Bobbe stopped at a small house with a round door and two windows on either side of it. Rain swallowed once he saw that the house wasn’t sitting on the platform he was standing on, the only thing keeping the house from falling was a few wooden poles and Rain did not trust them.
Bobbe pulled a key from one of his many pockets and started to unlock the door. It took a while because Bobbe kept dropping the key. Rain was about ready to snatch the key from Bobbe and open the door himself, when finally, Bobbe said, “I got it, aha.”
Bobbe stuffed the key back into one of his pockets and opened the door. He motioned with his cane for Rain to go first. Rain took a deep breath and stepped inside. He heard Bobbe relocking the door.
Rain looked around the house, it was a mess. He couldn’t even tell what was the living room and what was the kitchen. Bottles were everywhere, trinkets overflowed the shelves and tables, pictures and portraits hung on the walls crooked, and rugs of all colors, shapes, and sizes littered the floor.
Rain shook his head; his Momma would definitely not approve of this. He looked over at one of the pictures trying to figure out what it was supposed to be. He didn’t know, it looked like just a bunch of different colors all mixed together. He cocked his head but still didn’t know. He felt something touch him and he turned around startled. Then he calmed down, it was just Bobbe.
Bobbe smiled then said, “I said, are ye hungry?”
At the mention of food Rain’s stomach ached and he nodded. “Yeah, I’m starving.”
Bobbe nodded then went into what Rain guessed was the kitchen. Bobbe cleared off a place for Rain to sit and gave Rain some soup and water. Rain ate four bowls of soup and drank two glasses of water. He told Bobbe all he knew about his father and Jed, which wasn’t much. Rain didn’t know his father’s name, so it was hard.
Bobbe said he would help the best he could and he let Rain sleep in a spare room. But Rain couldn’t sleep, he wanted to find his father now, not wait till morning. Sure, he was tired but he just couldn’t sleep. So, he lay on the bed staring at the ceiling. Thunder boomed in the distance and Rain sat up and looked out the window. It was raining, he sighed, what was he supposed to do now? Now that he was here part of him wanted to go home and another part of him wanted to find his father and Jed and another part wanted something else, but he didn’t know what.
Had he don’t the right thing, running away? He could see his Momma pacing the floor in worry. He could see Jana trying to calm her down, and Hazel well he didn’t know, maybe she was trying to calm Momma down too, but part of him knew what she was doing. She was sad, he knew she was, he just didn’t want to think about her being sad, it made him feel guilty. But he couldn’t hide the truth, no matter how much he wanted to.
Lightning struck outside his window. Rain pulled his knees up to his chest; he didn’t know what to do. Why was life so hard? He just wanted to find his father, but then what? What would he do once he found his father and Jed? Stay with them, but then the image of Hazel crying was too much. If he stayed with his father Hazel would be so sad, but he couldn’t go back. He was already here, he was going to find his father and Jed, that’s what he wanted, right?
Rain must have fallen asleep, for when he opened his eyes it was morning. Bobbe stood over him. Rain was startled and fell off the bed, why did Bobbe keep doing that?
Bobbe smiled and said, “Ello, good mornin’! Did I scare you?” Rain frowned and said, “What do you think?” Rain searched for his glasses, found them, and shoved them on his face.
Bobbe never stopped smiling, and Rain wondered if Bobbe even knew what a frown was. “Okay, good. Now, I did me work and I think I may have ye father.”
Rain jumped to his feet. “Really? Where? When can we go?” Rain asked, his heart racing with joy.
Bobbe looked down. “Yeah, there’s just one problem with that.”
Rain’s smiled vanished. “What’s that?” Rain asked his heart slowing.
Bobbe took a deep breath then said, “He’s dead.”
What? WHAT??? HE'S DEAD??????? After all that, he's dead??? I hope Jed is alive, and that nothing happens to Hazel!!!!
OH MY!!!!!!!!!!! this cliffhanger!!!! This chapter is making me like Bobbe and Rain even more. Bobbe seems kind of eccentric and he is interesting and fun to read about, haha. Also I laughed aloud when I read "his Momma would definitely not approve of this." (It made me laugh because I could relate with how he felt there, but I know his situation with his mother is bad, so that's so very sad, of course!!) Excellent job!!!!!!
WHAT DID YOU DO JAIDIE?
YOU KILLED HIS DAD!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO POOR RAIN!!
maybe he will find Jed though..
great writing!!!
Oh wow!!! This was a great chapter!!! I love everything about it!!! Great job sissy!!!
