Here it is! Hope everyone had a great weekend and Memorial Day with their families!!!
Jaidie
Rain woke to the sound of voices. “Why don’t ye just give him some of those blue flower thingies?” the first voice said. Rain smiled weakly, he would know that accent anywhere, Bobbe!
Another voice spoke, this one sounded like a doe. “I can’t just give True Blue to him; he needs to be awake so I know how much to give him.”
Bobbe spoke again, “But it worked on Shed, I mean Shed, urgh, I mean Jed. It worked on Jed.”
“Because he was awake.”
Rain’s heart swelled; Jed was alive! His brother was alive! Rain felt warm tears on his face and he opened his eyes to see a very blurry Bobbe sitting in a chair beside him. He turned to see a red and white doe standing not too far away at a desk.
Rain looked back at Bobbe, then said, his voice weak, “Bobbe.”
Bobbe looked at him, smiling wide. “Oh, Rainy ye’re awake, how are ye?” The red and white doe stopped what she was doing and turned toward him. Rain groaned as he tried to get in a more comfortable position, but his wounded arm wouldn’t let him. “I’ve been better,” he said, chuckling slightly before he fell into a coughing fit.
The red and white doe came over to him and laid a hand on his head. “Sh, it’s okay. Bobbe, would you hand me the kettle,” she said, stroking Rain’s forehead.
Bobbe got up and went over to the fireplace and grabbed a kettle before walking back over to Rain. Rain tried to stop coughing, his throat was getting raw and his arm hurt every time his body moved. Bobbe handed the kettle to the red and white doe. She took it and went back to her desk; she came back with a small cup of blueish-colored tea. She carefully lifted Rain’s head.
“Here drink this.”
Rain looked toward Bobbe, he nodded. Rain sat up a little, still coughing, and took a sip of the tea. It tasted like any other tea, bad. He coughed again pushing the cup away.
“You have to drink more than that, sweetie,” the red and white doe said.
Rain shook his head and said through coughs, “No.”
The red and white doe frowned. “Come on Rain, just a few more sips than we’ll take you to see Jed and the others, how about that?”
Rain looked at her. “You’ll really let me see them?” Rain wanted to see Jed more than anything.
The doe nodded. “Yes, but you have to take a few more sips, okay?”
Rain swallowed, then coughed as he took another sip. He swallowed gagging as he did so, he took two more sips and was relieved when the doe said, “That’s enough for now, Bobbe go get the others.”
Bobbe smiled. “Of course, princess.”
“It’s doctor,” the red and white doe yelled but Bobbe was already gone.
Rain blinked. “You’re the princess, like princess Emma?” Rain asked.
The red and white doe looked down. “Well, I’m not that important, please just call me doctor or Mrs. Shanks, or just Emma.”
Rain looked at her, the princess, she was so pretty by what he could tell anyway everything was so blurry. “Princess, I mean,” Rain thought for a moment, “Mrs. Shanks where are my glasses, I can’t see very well without them.”
Princess Emma smiled at him. “Right here,” she said as she handed them to him.
Rain took them feeling awkward, he had never been around royalty before. “Thanks,” he said, putting his glasses on. He pushed them up on his nose and blinked as the whole world became clear again. Then his eyes widened. “Jed!”
Jed looked at him and smiled, his left shoulder was bandaged and his right arm was wrapped around Noah’s shoulder. Carter walked beside them. Bobbe smiled at Rain.
Jed let go of Noah and fell at Rain’s bedside tears running down his face. Rain felt his own tears running down his cheeks.
“Oh, Rain ye’re okay! I was so worried about ye,” Jed said throwing his right arm around Rain’s neck, and Rain threw his left arm around Jed’s neck. They stayed like that for a long moment, it was an awkward hug, due to the fact that Rain couldn’t use his right arm and Jed couldn’t use his left, but Rain didn’t care. He was just glad to feel his brother’s arm around him, to know that he was okay.
They broke apart and Rain smiled as he said the thing he had longed to say for so long, “Let’s go home Jed, let’s go home.”
*takes a deep breath* Ahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally!!!! Jed is alive, yay!!!!! Phew!!!!! (Also, go #Jemma!) I love Bobbe; he is just such a character!!!!! So good, Jaide!!!! And the perfect ending, "Let's go home." Yes!!!!
