Jenny and Sandy were about to head back to the house when they saw something out of the corner of their eyes. It was Amos, but he was running fast and had a concerned look on his face. He then yelled out, “Jenny, Sandy he was not there! He is gone and he left a note.”

Jenny looked at Sandy, a worried expression on her face, he was sure he looked the same. Sandy then looked at Amos who was gasping for breath. He then asked, “What do ye mean he’s gone? I donnae understand.”

Amos looked at Sandy as he handed him the note. Sandy took it and was about to read it when Amos said, “Can ye read it out loud, I mean nay offense but it is a bit awkward when ye just stand there and read it.”

Jenny put her hands on her hips and said, “He might nae want to read it out loud Amos and I would nae blame him. I would nae want to read it in front of ye either…”

She was going to say more when Sandy interrupted her. “It’s fine I donnae mind to.”

“Are ye sure? He was just being…”

Sandy interrupted her again. “I’m sure its fine.” Jenny nodded as she smiled at him. He smiled back at her then he started to read the note out loud.

“I’m afraid by the time you get here it will be too late, they will be dead. You will not be here is time, I will kill everyone you love along with…” Sandy fought for control a minute than went on, “along with that pretty doe of yours and I hope you will know my name by now Sandy McTomis, I do not lie. I will kill that doe and the others it will be too late!”

Sandy lowered the note his heart racing, he looked at Jenny. She looked shocked and scared. He then looked at Amos who looked the same, this was not good. He could not take Jenny with him or Amos, he didn’t want them to get hurt because of him. He looked both of them in the eyes.

Jenny shook her head, “No, no, no I won’t let ye do this alone, ye could die. I keen what ye’re thinking, I can help ye. Please donnae do this I will nae let you, I cannae lose ye, I cannae do this anymore.” Tears had started in Jenny’s eyes and poured down her face.

He walked over to her and wrapped her in his arms. Her shoulders shook as she said over and over again. “No…no…no…no… I cannae let ye.”

She backed away from the hug as he wiped the tears from her eyes. He then gently kissed her on the forehead and looked over at Amos and nodded for him to get her. Amos nodded back as he walked over and grabbed Jenny. He watched as she sobbed into Amos’s arms. He looked at them for a while then he ran off to rescue Angus and Duncan. The last thing he heard was Jenny sobbing.
