Alan didn’t know what to do. He saw Ky on the ground, a knife deep in his chest. Tears came to his eyes; what had he done? This was all his fault. If he would have, just stayed home with his father in the first place, none of this would have happened. This is all my fault, Alan said to himself, tears running down his face. He was snapped back to the present when he heard yelling. It was his father.
He looked up to see his father pinned against the wall by two guards, “You can't do this to me! He is my son!” His father yelled.
Alan watched as a tall buck stepped into the room. The buck wore fine clothes and a long chain around his neck. Alan had never seen someone so noble in his whole life. Then the buck spoke, “I think it is my business, you see Alan maybe your son, but as far as I can remember, Zeke is not. So that would be kidnapping.”
Alan was in shock this rabbit knew his name and was protecting him? Why?
“You won’t get away from me, freak! You won’t! I’ll find you!” His father yelled at him.
“Someone, take that fool out of my sight,” the noble-looking buck said.
The guards nodded and said, “Yes my lord.”
Then walked out of the room, taking Alan’s father with them. His father yelled as he was being dragged down the hall. “I’ll find you freak! I’ll find you this won’t be the last of me! I’ll find you, then…” his father’s voice faded away. Alan didn’t move, he was too shocked to do anything.
The noble-looking buck bent down beside him. Then said softly, “Are you, okay son?”
Alan looked up and nodded. “Who are you?” He asked.
The buck smiled. “Let’s just say my name is Hewson,” the buck said, the smile never leaving his face.
“Why…why did you save me? You don’t even know me?” Alan asked, confused by this buck’s kindness.
Hewson chuckled. “Well, I don’t think anyone should have been treated the way your father treated you. Plus, it is my job, as lord of Harbone, to protect Zeke and anyone else who doesn’t have a family.”
Alan was shocked. “You’re a lord?”
Hewson nodded. “Yes, but just call me Hewson.”
Alan nodded, not sure what else to do. He was in front of a lord. But then he remembered Zeke and Ky. “Zeke and Ky, my friends!” He said, worry in his voice as he looked around the room. He sighed in relief as he saw Zeke. He grabbed Zeke and hugged him, tears in his eyes.
Zeke pushed away and said, “I love you, Alan! You’re the best big brother ever. I think Zane would have liked you.”
Then a medic came over to Zeke and started cleaning his bloody face. Alan smiled and said under his breath, “I love you too, Zeke.” He then heard someone say his name. It was a weak voice, and Alan went over to Ky.
A medic was already there trying to clean the deep wound in Ky’s chest. Alan looked at him, then Ky spoke again. His voice nothing but a weak rasp, “Al…Alan, I need to tell you something be…before I die. I need you to do something for me.”
Alan nodded, tears in his eyes as said, “Anything.”
Ky smiled, then said, “I need you to take care of Amelia for me.”
Alan nodded again. “Of course, I will,” he said, more tears filling his eyes.
“…and David. You have to make sure he doesn’t get into trouble,” Ky said, chuckling softly, then he winced.
Alan smiled weakly and said, “I’ll try my best.”
Ky smiled and grabbed Alan’s hand, and with all the strength he had left, said, “Oh, and Alan. I was wrong about you that first time we met. You’re a good buck, and I see that now. Don’t let anyone tell you, you’re a freak, 'cause you’re not. It’s not what’s on the outside that matters it's what’s on the inside. You are a fighter, so keep fighting for both of us. Fight for me!” Ky looked at Alan.
Alan nodded, tears running down his face as he said, “I will.”
Ky smiled one last time before he closed his eyes and fell limp, never to wake again. Alan put Ky’s limp hand on the ground as he wiped the tears from his soaked face and said, in nothing more than a whisper, “Sleep well, my friend.”
Then he collapsed to the ground beside Ky, unable to keep his tears from coming. He looked up at the roof and said, “Come back Ky, please come back!” But there was no answer.
He sat there and sobbed until finally, he cried himself to sleep, feeling more alone than he had ever felt before. He was so sad that he didn’t even notice that someone had moved him to his bed. That was until he woke in the middle of the night, overwhelmed by nightmares and sobs. He wondered if he would ever sleep peacefully again, for his sorrow was too much. He couldn’t bear it, and it would never go away, for the loss of a friend never leaves. But he remembered the last thing Ky had told him. “Keep fighting for both of us. Fight for me!” Alan looked to the roof once more and said, “I will!”
Sorry, this was long, I hope you guys liked it, and I think I’ll do one or two more chapters then end the fanfic. I’m not sure if I want to do two more chapters, so I might just do one more. I don’t know, we’ll see, I guess.

Ohhhhh so bittersweet!!! I was about to burst with excitement when Hewson came on the scene - and when he coolly said, "Someone, take that fool out of my sight." What a great great line. <3 And Ky's death was so so sad, and so sweet. Such a brave young buck. Great job and I'm sad the fanfic is ending, but very excited for the last chapter/s as well.
Aw, poor Ky. I am glad he wasn't too afraid of death, though. And I am really glad Zeke is alive!
