I’ve got a mind for categorizing and making lists, as some may have picked up on. And a while back, something made me stop and consider the weapons that our favorite bucks have used over the course of the Green Ember series. I thought I’d share my findings.

Picket is known to have used 4 (arguably 5) swords:

• Smalls’ sword (I’m not sure this one really counts)

• The sword given to him by Wilfred

• The sword given to him by Smalls

• A sword taken from a fallen Halfwind buck (temporary)

• The sword taken from Bleston (temporary)

He also briefly held Naylen’s sword, but didn’t really do anything with it.

Jo is known to have used at least 3 bows:

• The one he had at Halfwind in The Last Archer

• The one he picked up from the field at Cloud Mountain

• The one he picked up on First Warren’s wall during the final battle

It’s not clear whether Jo kept the bow he used to safe Heather near Cloud Mountain. If he did, then it’s possible he kept it up until it snapped during the final battle.

Helmer, during the main series, used at least 2 swords:

• His signature sword with the emerald in the pommel

• Daggler’s sword (temporary)

The real question is whether, or when, he got his sword back after the Black Band grabbed him.

Cole, aka Mr. Perfect, uses only 1 sword across the entirety of the series, so far as we are told.
