Hey! I just realized it's been forever since I posted anything, mainly because of school and track practice... I was tempted to work on an old fanfic or too, but like my art, I'm in writing block... So, I figured it was high time for another one of Fleck J. Cove's insane, far-fetched theories! Presenting.... Nick Hollow and Seven Mounds!!
Training Ground?
Alright, I was thinking about Seven mounds, the mysterious and ancient mounds of Nick Hollow through which Heather and Picket cut their escape in the first book. I imediatly thought to the Delver Training grounds in Skyward, so i was wondering if Seven Mounds could have been used as a training ground- the tunnels and obstacles would make a Perfect training area!
Dragons?'
It is also possible for the Dragon Tomb to be used to hod dragon prisoners for temporary, during the Dragon War. It is mentioned that a similar wooden bowl was found by Heather and Smalls in the dragon Tomb in Ember's End to those spotted inside Seven Mounds.
Prison?
Another possible option for the ancient structures would be a prison for traitors, prisoners of war, or simply criminals. This would explain the bowls, multiple rooms in the interior, and long passages. Seven mounds could be used to home dangerous criminals, or just testy outsiders, with false charges.
Criminal Layer?
Again, this one probably due from reading another book, but it is entirely possible that Seven Mounds acted as a Bandit's layer- perhaps an outpost for hundreds of thieves and robbers. After all, the book does mention tapestries on the wall and chests of treasure...
Royal Hideaway?
this would make some this would make some amount of sense- Royals in hiding from some outside force, bringing with them bits and pieces of their history, as seen with the woven tapestries. The long tunnels of the labyrinth would be perfect for escaping royals- a maze of sorts, to shield them from those who would seek to do them harm
Morbin's outpost?
Perhaps during the war, Morbin forced an outpost in Seven Mounds- possibly of wolves, or of other creatures used to destroy the Natalians. Perhaps he thought the Longtreaders would return to their home with an army of soldiers, or Morbin wanted a garrison closer to those he was attacking at Cloud Mountain?
This is becoming a ramble- i better stop before my crazy mind comes up with more far-fetched ideas lol...What do yall think? any tips to get over art/writing block?
-Fleck!
As @Sagasaid, the implication-especially after Prince Lander & the Dragon War-seems to be that Seven Mounds was once a dragon stronghold. It could perhaps have been home to rabbits before that-relatives/ancestors of the Terralains-but it seems clear that the dragons took it over if that was ever the case. I'm wondering if it used to have bigger entrances though. If a wolf couldn't fit in through the whole Smalls and the Longtreaders used, a dragon might find it difficult. That is, unless dragons can squeeze through smaller openings than you'd expect, as certain smaller lizards can.
Of course, I suppose it could also have been home to some kind of evil rabbit cult.
It always seemed to me like it had been a dragon structure. In the first book, they said that it had threatening looking tapestries (I’ve always headcanoned those as wall carving, honestly, it doesn’t make sense to me that tapestries would have been well preserved), and it seemed like the construction of it didn’t make sense from a rabbit perspective. I always thought it had been one of the homes of the dragons before Lander drove them into the Tomb, because it made sense to me that they would have lived underground.
Interesting theories. I was wondering what Seven Mounds was while reading the first book and thought perhaps later on we’d find out something more about them. But apparently not lol
I never realized how many used seven mounds could have! These all could make sense.
