I've noticed several people have been talking about Lord of the Rings, so I thought I might create a forum for anyone who wants to discuss LOTR. Let the fun begin!
so in keyboarding, we were goofing around on Powerpoint and i noticed this:
well anyways, did yall ever notice the random people in the background looking at them like they were crazy? or that Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas and Boromir are fine with this, Gimli looks like he's about to bite someone, and the hobbits are either confused [merry and pippin] concerned [sam] or annoyed [Frodo]
okay, i finished a book a few nights ago, so before the Thanksgiving Church Service yesterday i got the LOTR book [all three books together] and i'm on page 170 and just met Strider, who just happens to be awesome and whom i have a theory about *Laughs because i have lots of theories*
So we went to our church today to work on the one day VBS thing, and while my dad was working on the sound system I went down to the church library, which smells amazing (all sorts of books smell so good together, especially the older ones) and they had the Hobbit!!!!!!
My sister and I were joking around while watching the two towers. During the scene where Gandalf and Saruman were fighting, I said, "Social distance fighting."
I'm not sure if I'm the only one who finds this funny, but oh well...
I was thinking about quotes to use for Whittle's quotes and I realized there were a lot of funny moments in LOTR and the Hobbit. I thought it would be fun if we post just random funny moments from the movies and books. Remind me of all the laughs I had...
Eeeeeeee!!!!!!!!! Thank you sooooooooooooo much for making this post, @BrokenArrow!!!!!
I'm just going to assume this applies to The Hobbit, and all things in that world.
Do you guys like LOTR or The Hobbit better? Why?
Who are your favorite and least favorite characters in each?
What was your favorite scene in the book or movie? Least favorite?
Was there a part that made you cry?
How old were you when you read/watched anything by J. R. R. Tolkein for the first time? (I mean, not by him, but in Middle Earth. J. R. R. Tolkein doesn't exactly make movies. XD)
What was your first impression?
I need to go away to scream my throat away now!!! Bye!!!!!!
@BrokenArrow I know. Legolas wasn't in The Hobbit book, and in the movie it was like, "We know Thorin has to die, but come on! Legolas is in the way bc he's too powerful! Hm. I guess we'll just have to momentarily rid him of his magical infinite quiver arrows." GAH!!!!!!
And Thorin didn't exactly mean to become power-hungry. He had dragon sickness. But yeah. I don't really know how all the other Dwarves were so patient with him when they knew he might be ruining their kingdom.
And @Saraina , it's funny that you thought the Fellowship of the Ring was the only movie. XD
@BrokenArrow, The Silmarillion isn't exactly one story, like The Hobbit and LOTR. It is more of a history, and it explains a lot of the things that were mentioned in the two more famous books, such as the tale of "Luthien and Beren."
@BrokenArrow I entirely agree! I also love how he's not greedy to become who he rightfully should be, the king of Gondor! There are lots of reasons actually to have him as a favorite character.
Oh, yes. The why. Thorin is just such a great leader. He cares so much for his family and for his people, but isn't always perfect. He makes mistakes (sometimes serious ones), but he tries to do what he thinks is right. Also, he's stubborn, and I love when he interacts with Gandalf and Bilbo and Dain. And Fili and Kili. He loves them. 😢
And now Frodo. He wasn't the one who found the ring. He inherited it from Bilbo, but when he learned what it was, he didn't waste a lot of time blaming Bilbo for what happened, or being angry. He did what had to be done. He protected the Shire, and all those he loved, no matter what it cost him. And he wasn't powerful. He didn't have the strength of Dwarves, or the minds of Elves, or the magic of Wizards. He was just Frodo. And yet, he took all that responsibility on himself, and he didn't give up. And his friends helped him, and... well, I think we know what happened.

We found the Hobbit audiobook in the library. We are going to listen to it on our trip to Texas this weekend!!!
I just saw this comment on YouTube:
J.R.R. Tolkien died in 1973. Reverse that and you get 3791.
Three Rings for Elven-Kings under the sky
Seven for the Dwarf-Lords in their halls of stone
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
I don't know why the idea of Gandalf dancing is so funny to me!

I was watching YouTube last night with my parents and found this:
Babylon Bee is a Christian satire website, and also has a podcast. It's funny and I just thought I might post it if any of you want to watch it.
Eeeeeeee!!!!!!!!! Thank you sooooooooooooo much for making this post, @BrokenArrow!!!!!
