Kat studied the does face as they walked deeper into the woods, she was usually good at interpreting how someone was feeling based on their facial expression, but this Leah doe was confusing. Her eyes were glazed with tears, but she was smiling wide. Her eyebrows were furrowed in concentration, but she was staring wistfully into the distance. Her head was tilted slightly as if she were listening to someone, but she looked as though she were distracted in her own world. She was a pretty doe, not what you would call beautiful, but pretty. Her eyes were foggy and distant. A pale gray, almost blue. Her fur was a sandy yellow brown color, either would suit as a name. And she had a pierced ear, not something usually seen in this part of the rabbit world. Her family must have been native to these lands. Leah turned and smiled softly at Kat, who glanced away quickly. Leah looked worried, like she was contemplating something serious. Leah paused suddenly, as if a thought had come to her head that had commanded her to stop. She froze a moment before slowly glancing at Kat. “where do you need to go? I’ve been waiting for you to lead me somewhere but I don’t know if you are expecting me to know the way.”
Kat looked at Leah, baffled and trying to figure out if she were serious. “I’m leading the way! I don’t even know why you’re following me! How stupid do you have to be to think I would follow you! I’m finding my friend and you can come, or scram.” The doe didn’t even flinch at the words, and she nodded plainly. “I assume right now you are regretting saying those things.”
Kat was. She felt terrible for being so mean. She glared at the doe, she was acting like a know-it-all she didn’t think she could ever like Leah. She didn’t even look hurt at the words, unlike Amy had. That meant that Kat had no control over her. She hated not being in control, it was something she had lacked for years. And it was something she always felt she needed to have. “I’m coming with you.” Leah said, “I don’t care what you have to say to me. Lets go.” And she started off in the direction that Amy had gone, as if she knew already, eyeing the trees strangely. Kat followed reluctantly. After a couple minutes Leah had disappeared. Kat looked around for her and couldn’t find her until her voice sounded through the trees. “Oh! Hello! What's your name?” An inaudible response followed, so it sounded as though Leah were talking to herself. She followed Leah's echoey voice until she found her. Kats mouth fell open in shock as she saw that Leah was talking to Rhys. Who was standing, drenched in water. He was looking at Leah as if she were a goddess, his eyes wide.
Oh dear
Is he okay? He must be going crazy.
Leah and Rhys paused their conversation as Kat stepped closer, “Look who I’ve found, Kat!” Leah exclaimed, her face looked like a small child when they found a coin on the street. “He can find your friend with us!”
Rhys and Kat locked eyes, both looked surprised to see each other.
“Kat?”
“Rhys?”
“Leah?”
Kat turned to Leah who was staring at a tree. There must have been something wrong with her brain. She was crazy. But Rhys laughed quietly at her.
“ What are you doing out here?” Kat asked
“I was looking for you actually, you and Amy.”
Kat nodded, sitting down along with Leah and Rhys.
“It’s a long story.”
