Amy wiped the tears streaming down her face off frantically. She couldn’t stand this anymore. She felt like she was going to throw up, and she stumbled through the deep snow causing her to shiver violently. Over the ice crunching under her feet she couldn’t tell if Kat had followed her, but she could imagine what was most likely. Kat didn’t care about her. A real friend wouldn’t replace her out of nowhere. A real friend would never make her feel like she did, worthless, a failure.
And never once when Amy was hurting, did Kat ask if she was okay. Amy let out a sob, barely able to contain herself. She was on the verge of breaking down into a puddle of guilt. But she tried to pull a straight face and ignore all feelings. That was easiest. Kat could never understand, Amy had always been there for her. No matter what. She had encouraged her when she felt down, sacrificed eating so her friend could, apologized for things she never needed too, and defended Kat against the other does. But not once had Kat done anything in return. She had replaced Amy in a day. When Amy was at her lowest point, overcome with guilt, wishing it were her who had died instead of Vell, Kat had ignored her almost completely. And had talked about her behind her back. She never was there. She never put in effort in anything. When Amy had given everything, her time, her energy, her tears, Kat was selfish. That was the truth. Kat only cared about her well being, no one else's, she never had.
Amy was done. She was sick and tired of everything. She was tired of always being second to best. Never good enough. So she was leaving, and she wasn’t going back. She knew she wouldn’t be strong enough to stay, to watch yet another rabbit fade from her life.
A muffled shout rang through the air but Amy ignored it, pushing branches aside and speeding up her trudge. The branches swung back at her, as if trying to hit her like the wolves once had. Amy sat, unable to go on as the memory flooded her head.
Kat had stolen food that day, a loaf of bread. It wasn’t enough to feed Amy and her, so she hadn’t let Amy know what would happen. She didn’t include her in the plan. But Amy hadn’t known that, she thought that Kat was going to share after she had already gotten the prize. Amy had found out her plan from Dawn. She had followed her friend as Kat had made her way to the pantry. Kat had grabbed the bread without getting caught and was rushing back when she tripped and stumbled. One of the slices fell out and a guard ran there where Amy was standing unexpectedly. Kat had let Amy take the blame. Amy had been beaten badly and now had a long scar down her back. It was unfair. So unfair.
Amy stood again, letting out a scream of frustration, she hated this. She hated everything. She couldn’t breathe, it was too hard. No matter how many times she told herself she deserved everything in the world no one else ever told her that. So she couldn’t believe it herself. And that made her wish she could disappear, as if she had never existed. No one would care anyway, they might pretend but she knew it wasn’t real. Because she knew she wasn’t worth it.
“I’m not worth it.” She whispered to herself, letting the pain sink in with the words. She deserved it. Wiping her face with a piece of cloth to dry her tears she headed on.
She didn’t know that Kat had fallen under, and was drowning over her head in snow and ice.
Alright. If you kill Kat, I want Rhys x Amy. They would both be hurting.
