Ella woke to the wonderful smell of breakfast and the bright sunlight that streamed through her window. The sunlight made her want to go back to bed but the fantastic smells of fresh sliced peaches covered in sugar and maple syrup, followed by warm cinnamon rolls covered in mother's wonderful buttercream, and to drink Ella took a big sniff, then smiled as she began to lick her lips, apple cider. At that moment she realized that today was her fourteenth birthday. Ella tossed her covers back and threw her long legs out of the bed.
Ella rubbed her eyes trying to make herself wide awake, it helped some but not much. She stood and was about to head downstairs then she turned towards a small desk in the very corner of the room, her satchel laid neatly beside it, and beside the satchel was the small bag Uncle Garten had handed to her last night. She didn't get to see what he had gotten her yet because she had had to head to bed.
She slowly walked over toward the desk and grabbed the satchel, threw it over her shoulder, and look down at the small bag. She wondered what could be inside something so small? She let her curiosity get to the best of her as she picked up the small bag, loosened the strings, and turned the bag up. Ella laid out her hand and shook the bag as a beautiful necklace fell into her palm. She almost let out a gasp as she looked at it with wide eyes. It was so pretty, probably very expensive, how did Uncle Garden have the money for this she wondered?
The necklace looked to be made of silver with little jewels forming a flower on the pendant's center. Ella smiled as she put the necklace on then headed downstairs as the smell of food came back to her.
Once again her mouth begin to water and her stomach rumbled and grumbled reminding her what was in the kitchen. As she entered the kitchen she saw mother with a big smile upon her face as she gently laid plates on the table.
"Good morning, mother," Ella said sweetly.
Mother looked up a grin now formed on her lips. "Good morning my beautiful Ella Jai and happy birthday! I hope you know that me and your father are so, so very proud of our little girl." Mother laid the last plate on the table before walking over to Ella. Mother then gave Ella a hug and a gentle squeeze, Ella did the same and they stayed in the embrace for a while then mother released her and wiped away a few tears.
"I'm sorry my girl, it's just hard to see you grow up into such a beautiful young lady. Well, I don't want to make your day sad, you have plans and it's time for breakfast. I'll get your father and brother," Mother said.
"I could get them, I mean, I'm not doing anything else. Where are they?" Ella asked.
"They're outside. Your father is helping is Willum string his bow."
Ella put her hands on her hips and said, "I hope they weren't practicing without me."
"I'm sure they weren't, my dear," mother said with a slight giggle and a wink.
Ella giggled before heading towards the front door. When Ella went outside she couldn't help but look at the scenery before telling Father and Willum that it was time for breakfast. She looked over the tall mountains that seemed to touch the sky. They were covered in thousands of beautiful wildflowers, all different shapes and sizes, and colors. The sky today was a vibrant blue, the sun was blinding and cheerful as it reflected on everything around her and its warmth landed on her face, and a soft breeze was in the air. This would be a wonderful thing to draw, after breakfast she would have to do it. She couldn't miss out on a beautiful thing like this, if she did it would just be sad and that's when she thought about the difference between today's and yesterday's view.
Yesterday the mountains were covered with frost, while today it was covered in beautiful flowers. It was weird how things like that could happen but only the Maker knows the secret behind it. Ella began to look for Willum and Father.
"Willum, Father, where are you? Mother said it's time for breakfast," she called as she walked around the corner of the house.
"Over here, Ella dear," Father called back.
Ella walked into the backyard to see Father sitting on a bench Willum's bow and string in his lap. "We seem to have a problem," he said when saw her.
Oh I wish I could live in that place!!! It just sounds so refreshingly delightful, with the mountains tall in the background, the wildflowers all about, and the cheerfully shining sun. *sighs* Amazingly written!!!! But what is this problem her father mentions in the end!? Aaaaaaaaahh!!! I suppose I might just wait for the next chapter. (Lol I’m always impressed by how steadily yall keep up with your fanfics; you deserve a break 😄! So I’m glad you have a light week in terms of that lol.)
