Rissy
Ella laid on the ground beside Caspian, her heart racing and her wild eyes widened with panic and fear and some relief. She was glad to still be alive and not harmed, at least not yet but the reason why she wasn't harmed was that Caspian was always coming to her rescue. This caused a feeling in Ella, a feeling that she couldn't quite put her finger on but she knew that it made her feel small, weak, and most definitely not brave or kind.
The words that doctor Hendow had said tore through her, it was all one big lie, a lie that troubled her. Ella thought perhaps this was all because of jealousy but another thing was because she didn't want to face the truth behind the jealousy. So she pushed everything aside and stuffed it deep down inside, causing the confusion and anger of the emotions to be stored away. Ella came to the real world when she heard Caspian yell, "Shasta, no!"
Ella turned to see the wide eyes and fear on Caspian's face as he focused on someone. Ella slowly followed Caspian's gaze and there for a minute she could have sworn that her heart stopped beating as her eyes focused on the large wolf that would have killed her if it wasn't for Caspian and another smaller wolf who was drenched in blood as he fought the bigger wolf.
Ella pulled her eyes away from the two wolves as it became unbearable to watch. Then she realized that the other two wolves were nowhere to be seen and neither was Sarah or Maraly. A great explosion of fear tore through Ella as she thought of what could be happening to them.
She turned towards Caspian, her eyes getting bigger by the moment, but Caspian's eyes were still focused on the two wolves and their bloody fight. Ella laid a hand on his arm that wasn't burnt and gave it a firm squeeze as she said, with a firm commanding voice, "Where are Sarah, Maraly, and the two other wolves?" As Ella said the word wolves her voice quivered and worry for her two best friends in the entire world filled her.
She couldn't lose them like she had already, perhaps, lost her family. She couldn't even bear the thought of her family possibly being dead. Ella had to assume, for now, that they were, but she still had hope for Sarah and Maraly.
Caspian looked towards her and Ella guessed that he saw her concern as his face became gentle and he laid a hand on her shoulder. But even though his face was gentle Ella could still see a hint of worry in his eyes, along with the quiver in his voice, "I told them to run but I didn't think..." he paused and added, "Oh no, what did I do?" His eyes grew big and a spark of fire reflected in them.
Ella jumped to her feet, worried for her friend's lives. She couldn't lose them not to Morbin's wolves or any way. Streams of tears poured when she thought about all the possibilities that could happen to them. Anger rose from in her, one person here was responsible.
Caspian. Yes, this was all his fault! She knew better, but she blamed him anyway. He was probably the one that brought the wolves here in the first place, he was probably on Morbin's side. Ella felt her blood growing warm as more and more anger came, followed by tears to cry. She decided to let it all out on Caspian. She pointed a trembling finger towards him. "This is all your fault! Don't you understand, this wouldn't have happened if not for you! You brought them here! If not for you they all wouldn't be..."
Ella couldn't force herself to say the words, it hurt too much like someone was stabbing a knife straight through her heart, only no one was but it felt exactly that way.
Caspian's face held a confused expression as he slowly rose to his feet, making eye contact with her as he did. "What do you mean this is my fault?" he said as he stepped closer to her.
Ella stepped back as more rage came like a great flood to sweep her away. Ella wanted to scream, to fall to her knees and just fall apart. She was done, done, done, done, done with all of this she couldn't handle it anymore. So with as much strength as she could muster she yelled out. "I hate you! Just go away I don't need your help, I don't want your help! I don't want you in my life! This is all your fault you brought them here," Ella said as tears flooded from her cheeks.
She didn't even know where all these words were coming from but they were out before she had time to do anything and now all those awful, awful words were said. Ella couldn't help but feel absolutely terrible and once again the words that Dr. Hendow had said about her being kind and brave were all a lie because the real truth was that she was selfish. Without even looking at Caspian and without even apologizing Ella spun around and took off running as fast as she could.
So many tears poured from her. Her lungs ached and her breathing became shallow. She blocked out the calls of Caspian. She never wanted to see him again and she would never see him again, Ella was going to die even if she had to be the one to do it. So she did the only thing she could, she ran. Ran as fast as she could passing all sorts of things that were all one big blur to her.
She passed young rabbits being destroyed and houses being burnt in into nothing but cinders. The stench of smoke filled her lungs along with blood and many other awful smells. She faintly heard rabbits cry now as she pushed herself to run faster and faster and faster, until she could take it no more and finally collapsed sobbing and shaking uncontrollably. Four wolves surrounded her with glowing eyes and teeth bared, fur raised in spikes upon their backs, they rolled their shoulder blades, let out evil growls.
Then before Ella could do anything, it was like a blink of an eye, one of the wolves let out a piercing howl. Then all of the sudden it pounced straight towards her, knocking her flat on the ground. Ella didn't even get to scream, but she did realize one thing, this was for the best.
I just connected Sarah and Maraly *facepalm*
Oh. My. Goodness. PLEASE don't blame him!!!!!!! Aaaahh!!! I understand poor Ella - she's in an extremely stressful situation and isn't thinking clearly, but still! Oof, poor Caspian!!!! I can't wait to see how this resolves!!!
(Oh, sorry to hear that... what a bother, technological issues are the worst.)
Ah. I loved it, but still ahhh.
Ouch.
Oh dear, I hope Shasta gets away safely! He and Caspian are my favorites.
