Layra closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Then she opened her eyes and released her arrow, it soared through the sky and hit the target in its innermost circle. She smiled, then she looked over at Duncan. “It’s your turn show me what you can do,” She said.
“Aye then, but like I said I’m muckle better with a claymore.” Duncan grabbed the bow that Weezie had let him borrow and walked to the line. Layra watched as he grabbed an arrow and nocked it. Then he drew back, steadied himself, and released the arrow.
She watched as Duncan’s arrow split her’s in half. Her jaw dropped; did he really just do that? And how? She shook her head, “How did you do that? I thought you said that you weren’t that good.”
“Yeah, and you said you were better with a claymore, what ever that is,” Weezie said.
“I am muckle better with a claymore and I didnae say that I was nae good with a bow.” He then looked at Layra and winked at her.
Layra was mad. No one could beat her with a bow, not even Weezie. “I don’t know who you think you are, but it is time for me and Weezie to go, now!” Layra said as she grabbed Weezie’s hand.
“But its not even dark yet,” Weezie said. Anger boiled inside Layra and she didn’t trust herself to speak. She didn’t like Duncan, at all.
“Ye are just mad because I beat ye, aren’t you?” Duncan said. She turned around and looked at him. Then she bent and picked up a rock. “Are ye gang* daft? You can’t just throw that at me, ye could kill me!” Duncan said his eyes wide.
“You need to calm down Layra, so what if he beat you this time there will always be next time,” Weezie said, softly.
“You might be right Weezie,” Layra said, lowering the rock. She then walked over to Duncan and said, “If you think you are so good with whatever this claymore is then me and you will met tomorrow, then we will really see if you are as good as you say. I guess you could call this a challenge, do you take it?”
“Aye, I’ll take it and see ye bright and early on the morrow,” Duncan said.
“I look forward to it,” Layra said.
“I will meet you at yer place then,” Duncan said, before turning and walking off. What a strange buck he was.

Haha, that’s great. Nae feedback needed. Can’t wait for the next chapter!
Aww, Layra is so feisty! This fanfic is really making me wish it had her story in the GE books. Good job! (If I think of feedback, I'll let you know.)
