Aaron stayed at Cassady’s place for a few weeks, until he was well enough to walk. Cassady begged him to stay but Aaron didn’t want to bother her or her family anymore. They had been so nice, that it would make him feel bad to stay longer. But Cassady and her parents convinced him to stay for a few more days until Digory was better.
He and Cassady became great friends, she was a fun rabbit to hang out with. She made him laugh in ways that no one else could, and in some ways, she reminded him of Alice. This made Aaron sad sometimes, but he tried not to think about that.
He watched as the sunrise peeked over the jagged mountains, which seemed to touch the sky, it was a beautiful, early morning and was perfect for thinking. He gazed hard at the sunrise that was forming right in front of him, the colors were spectacular. So many colors of all shades seemed to be painted across the sky. Dark orange, light orange, red, light red, maybe even a hint of blue or purple. He could go on about it, it was so lovely and it seemed to calm him.
He could feel the warmth of the sun on his face and for a moment everything around him felt magical. This was a sight to behold, the only thing that could have made it better was to have Alice with him. But she wasn’t here and he felt like part of that was his fault.
Aaron heard a soft voice behind him. “Good morning and isn’t it just a beautiful morning! So quiet and peaceful.”
Aaron turned to see Cassady gazing up at the sunrise. She then sat and gave him a big smile. He smiled back, only his smile wasn’t real, it was a fake smile.
Cassady frowned, before saying, “Are you all right, Aaron? You don’t need to rant do you?”
Aaron looked into her eyes. “I’ll be fine,” he said, shrugging.
“Are you sure? Because ranting is good for the soul, and I’m always here to listen to whatever you have to say, no mat…”
“I’m fine,” Aaron said, cutting her short. He didn’t mean to be mean or to sound mean, it was just out before he even knew what he was doing. He looked away from her and hung his head. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine,” Cassady said.
Then neither of them spoke, and complete silence fell. The silence lasted for a while, till Aaron broke it.
“Do you know how Digory is doing?” Aaron asked, looking up at Cassady.
“I don’t know for sure, but we could go check on him later today,” Cassady said.
Aaron didn’t know what to say back so he only nodded, which made it awkwardly silent again.
“Time for breakfast!” Cassady’s mother yelled from the house. Aaron watched Cassady walk off toward the house, then he ran to catch up with her. As soon as Cassady saw that he was running she began to do the same thing, it was now a race to the house.
This was so good!! :D It was so beautiful and the description of the sunrise was gorgeous, and I love how you connected the description with Aaron, giving his reaction to it, not just telling about the sunrise. I love Cassady and she really does reminds me of Cassie/ @Jo4life , especially the parts about ranting is good for the soul, lol! I can't wait for the next chapter!!! I'm looking forward to but also sad about it being the last chapter in the Leo fanfic! :(
I love Cassady.
lol... hope this turns out well, sounds like the house might start burning or blow up right in front of them, or the enemy will come.....
Amazing Job!!!! I love the descriptions so much!!!!!!!
