Rissy
Eileen stood in front of the Captain’s tent, waiting for the two guards to let her in, but they were giving her a difficult time.
“I need to have a word with the Captain,” she said.
One of the cloaked guards walked toward her, then he raised his hands and removed his hood, revealing his face. He was a white rabbit with splotches of brown, black, and gold here and there. His eyes were hazel and keen. “I’m afraid that I cannot let you in right now the Captain is busy.”
“It will only be a word,” Eileen replied, trying to keep calm. She didn’t want to lose her temper with this buck.
“I’m sorry, miss, but not right now,” the guard said as he looked into her eyes.
Eileen groaned under her breath; she didn’t have time to wait around; she needed to speak to the Captain. Then she needed to go. She looked hard at the guard; fire showed like a candle flickering in her multi-colored eyes as she spoke with a firm voice that almost made her sound like a leader. “I do not have time for this, now let me in!” She clenched her teeth.
“I love your spirit, miss, but don’t make this hard on us, please.”
Eileen laid a hand on her sword hilt as anger slowly rose up inside. She was about to draw her sword, and the guards looked surprised. But before she could draw her sword, she heard her sister’s voice say, “You heard my sister, let her in, you fool.”
The guard didn’t do anything, and her sister added, sternly, “Now!”
The guard rolled his eyes and stepped away from the entrance to the tent. Eileen smiled as she walked inside. She then looked around as her eyes adjusted to the dark. She saw the doe with the molasses colored fur speaking to Lancely. She knew Lancely was close to the Captain, and she would not be surprised if he was the one going with them to get the bucks. She then looked towards a dark corner and saw the Captain with a cloak over his head. She also saw the pretty doe from the fire, held by another buck with a knife to her throat.
Eileen shook her head and looked back at the Captain as she said, “I need to speak with you.”
The Captain nodded his head for her to follow him out of the tent. When they were outside, the Captain removed his hood and looked down. “What is it, Eileen?”
“I just wanted about the mission…what if I,” she wasn’t sure how to word it, or what exactly she wanted to say, “I well…what if I don’t…well you know…”
The Captain stepped closer and took her hands in his as he looked into her eyes. “I know you can do it, and I know that it is scary, but you have to have faith in yourself. You have to carry the flame that burns bright and carries all of your hope. Show me that you are a brave warrior. You will be fine, your sister will be with you, and Lancely will also be going with y’all, along with the prisoner. I am counting on the three of you, and once again, I wish you luck.” The Captain then let go of Eileen’s hands.
Eileen sighed; was this right? What she was doing, was it right? Was she on the right side? She wanted to believe that she was, but somewhere in her heart, deep down towards the bottom, it didn’t feel that way. It felt like it was telling her to do something else, but what she did not know.
Come on, Eileen! Good job, Rissy!!!
