It all started about four years ago. My older brother and younger sister were reading it. And I refused to read it. My mom started to read it to us, and sure enough I started to read it on my own. I LOVED it. A year later, I read the second book. Right now, I have read them both thirteen times. And every time I read them, I feel like I am reading it for the first time. Last year, I read the third book. I screamed at the end. And now, I am telling people about this story. I want more people to know and love this story. The Green Ember is an amazing book series. There is no other.

I just decided to listen to The Green Ember one day. I had read the Wingfeather Saga when that was published but otherwise I've never really had massive interest in a fantasy series directed towards kids. It took me until Ember Falls to really get into the series, but I've been a big fan ever since. The books are one of those series like The Chronicles of Narnia - I think everyone can enjoy them.
well, i was first introduced to the series back in 2018. i was shocked to see the cover, but at those first sentences i realized just how awesome the series was.
When i first started understanding the books was the summer of 2020. i remember getting EF from the library, unsure about anything. but as soon as i read those pages....
i was soon reading the whole series ,sovoring it.
i got the four main series books for christmas as well as the last archer and now i own them, so yeah...
and i hav'nt read the last two Jo Shanks books.
I was unsure when my mom borrowed it from the library. As we began to read aloud i prepared to get bored. But I didn't. I know have the four main series books and the last archer and have read all the books except the first fowler and the archers cup...
I had run my kindle dry, and was desperate for someting redwall-like to read: I spotted TGE, and decided to try it. the rest is *Annoying Cliche Alert* history!

I'm only two years late... awesome. lol But I just wanted to add mine, although it's similar to everyone else's: Our longtime friends and fellow-fans told my mom and she got it from the library. My curiosity was immediately captured by the epic front cover picture, then later when my mom began reading it, I was captured by the crisp writing style and the unanswered questions in the story. We begged our mom to read another chapter when she had finished one. "The rest is history." I've told all my friends and relatives... and enemies (just kidding) about it and some have read it and loved it.
BTW, about how to get people to read it, it only really works in writing form for me so that I get to perfect my summary of it. Otherwise, the "Oh, cute - rabbits!" reaction happens. Which is the total opposite of the Green Ember's rabbits. It's not cute - it's epic.
(Um... I'm actually listening to the Ember Falls audio right now with my family. Any chance of me beginning to "grow out" of it? I don't think so.)
@The Fowlers I'm the second oldest of ten with one more on the way and we homeschool and I just wanted to say it's nice to know someone else who doesn't always remember what grade they're in!!!
@The Fowlers So, you are three of seven. I am the second oldest of eleven. 8 girls 3 boys.
It is a way of agreeing @Zanni Werthison
People will ask me; "Hey... Dylan? What are you reading?"
"I would tell you, but then you'd laugh." I was still skimming over my book, this wasn't the first time this had happened.
"Oh NO" they would say. "I WOULD NEVER LAUGH AT YOU."
I tell them the plot of Green Ember, which is basically the same as saying, "HEY I HAVE THIRTY TENTACLES FOR FEET ISN'T THAT GREAT???"
And they will laugh.
And I melt in embarrassment...
Anyone have any other good book series?
Hi everyone!!! Just want to say Happy Halloween!!!
Guess what!!!! I just got a postcard from S.D. Smith!!! I wrote him a few months ago. And he wrote back.
This is a cool discussion.
My family read aloud The Green Ember in February-March of 2015 (over 4.5 years ago!), and I've been hooked ever since. I think my mom found out about it via Story Warren. After Black Star, I've read all of the books on my own, as has my younger brother. I think I've read Book 1 at least 6 times, which seems pathetic compared to most of y'all's numbers, but, whatever.
I haven't made any "converts" exactly, though a few of my friends also are fans of the series. I mostly just find it awkward trying to explain why a high-school guy would like a series about rabbits... anyways, sometimes I tell people "it's kind of like Redwall," but then again its so very different and more than Redwall, if you know what I mean.
Speaking of Redwall, I've read five of them so far; I read the first four, and then (rather uncharacteristicly of me) skipped to Outcast because it seemed interesting, with a more complicated character situation and possibly morally dynamic characters. (Alas, I was sorely disappointed.)
I've heard good things about the Mistmantle books, but I've yet to hunt them down and read.
I like to read the books I LOVE, more than once.
Also, thank you.
LOL:) I have the wing feather saga, and I started to read it. But it just wasn't interesting to me. Do you have any other suggestions. I am REALLY wanting a good series. Have you ever heard of Will Wilder book series. Those are good.
Anyone have any good books I could read? I love adventure, war, main characters: about four kids.(If any of you have read "Spirit Animals," I would love any books like those.
Anyone have a good idea on how to get people to read TGE?
I must confess that I haven’t really endeavored to convert anyone to the series. My younger sister listened to all the audiobooks before Wreck and Rise with me, but I’m the only one with physical copies in my family that I know of. I’ve told some friends too, but one of them just notes that it sounds like Redwall.😡
