So. I've been meaning to put this up forever. I'm finally doing it! For a long time after I read Green Ember (who am I kidding? Ever since I read Green Ember!), I'd hear a song and think, "Wow. That song reminds me so much of Green Ember!"
Here are the top 10 songs that remind me of Green Ember and their links! Don't worry, every one of them is by a Christian artist and there is no profanity or anything.
1. 'Til the Day I Die (TobyMac). Come on, guys? Those first few lines? They have "Bear the Flame!" written all over 'em!
4. Warrior (Hannah Kerr). This is like a Christian fight song, guys. Almost every verse can be applied to those moments in Green Ember where all seemed lost.
3. It's Not Over Yet (For King and Country). "Keep on fighting, hope is rising." Sound familiar?
4. Burn the Ships (For King and Country). GUYS! WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO!!! Um, BATTLE OF AYEMAN LAKE, ANYONE???? Seriously, when he lights all the explosives at the end? Or when they wash up on shore, looking back on the burning ship... AHHHHHHHH! 🔥🔥🔥 (Well, if you ignore the fact that point of the song is to leave the ship behind, which is the opposite of what Fleck does. Still...)
5. Hard Love (Needtobreathe). The whole song is mostly applicable, but mainly the part starting at 1:36. "When the wolves come and hunt me down..."
6. Joy (For King and Country) (There's something about them, huh?). This one is more for Heather and her stand for hope behind enemy lines. The pre-chorus suits her very well!
7. I just Need U (Tobymac). References to wolves, dark days... It sends off Picket vibes for me (hehe, especially the wolves!).
8. To the Dreamers (For King and Country) (Seriously? Them again?). This is for Heather. So, so, so Heather!!!! Almost every bit of it!! By far one of my favourites on this list!!! #ScribeoftheCause
9. The Elements (Tobymac). There's something about Toby that just bleeds battle cries! This one is for my hero, Picket Packslayer and his mentor, Helmer the Black. All of it. #PicketPackslayer #alwaysHelmer Also, this song is very close to my heart when it comes to GE because something that GE did for me was made me recognize the spiritual battle being waged in our world. #PrayOn This one makes me shiver, thinking of how many might go down swinging in Ember's End...
10. Be a King (Capital Kings). Okay, be fair everyone. These guys are THE BEST techno-pop artists. So, not only is this a great song for Smalls and Heather, but it's also just a great song. 😉 'Sokay if it's not your style. I think it would be a great song for everyone's favourite ship, #Smaller. The combination of raising you voice for truth and fighting back against dark forces (not to mention becoming a king) is great mix for the two of them.
If you read this far, I really respect you. ;) I'm glad I finally got this post up here. I've meaning to do it forever. I hope you enjoyed it and listening to some great GE themed music! Here are a few songs from other book series that I just really love, for side listening.
- My Love Has Gone Across the Sea (WFS).
- Song of Durin (LoTR). My one warning with this one is that it has scenes from the movies in the video. If you're not comfortable with that, I would recommend just listening to it without watching the video.
- Arwen's Promise (LoTR Movie themed).
- Luthien's Lament (The Silmarillion). This is from a book of history that Tolkien wrote. The story may be mentioned in LoTR (I can't remember) but if it isn't, look in the description or read the book. It's long, but diehard fans will read it!
Let me know if the links don't work and comment below if you have any thoughts/song suggestions for this topic!
No idea how I didn't ever see this before! And I have a list...
Warrior - Aurora: This is so Heather. I practically screamed when I read the lyrics.
Meet Me on the Battlefield - Svrcina: This can apply to the series as a whole, but I like to think of it as the Fowlers' song. Just change "human race" to "rabbit race" and it works.
Beautiful Life - Bebe Rexha: #Heals. Do I need say anything more?
End Of Time - Alan Walker: This just has TGE vibes.
Dynasty - Miia: This fits the GartenSweenWhittle thing.
A Million Dreams - The Greatest Showman: This is my go to song for when I want to try and describe Emma in my head.
