This is an idea I’ve discussed over on the Green Ember Wiki, but I thought I’d bring it up on here. When the thought of the books being adapted into films comes up, I tend to wonder what music their trailers might be set to. Ideally, songs from the series itself would be chosen, as opposed to the latest catchy pop tune-at least, that’s my opinion. With that in mind, I would probably associate the following:
*The Black Star of Kingston-The Oath Song from Ember Rising
*The Wreck and Rise of Whitson Mariner-The Ship of the Seas from the book itself
*The Green Ember-The Mended Wood
*The Last Archer and The First Fowler-...no idea
*Ember Falls-Picket Packslayer from Ember Rising (I figure you could move up its intro without much harm)
*Ember Rising-May She Rise and Reign from the book itself
*Ember’s End-will undoubtedly feature an appropriate new song; either that, or bring things full circle with The Mended Wood
Well, those are my thoughts. If anyone has any other music in mind-including catchy pop tunes-please comment.
@Ian G. sorry I never responded. Listened to the songs; so far as I can tell none of them were used in the audiobooks. There’s a delightfully jaunty version of The Mended Wood that plays at the end of the Ember Rising audiobook though.
Ember’s End proved less musical than anticipated...apart from Tunk’s little number and the song Smalls sings to Heather, I can’t recall any songs with lyrics. Might be cool if they could work “Home, Again” and the votaries’ song from Ember Falls in there somehow.
