So HBOMax, the latest streaming service, features a brand new Looney Toons series that’s meant to closely mimic the style of the original shorts. However, there are a few changes that have been made. Notably, due to some changes in culture in the intervening decades, Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam will not carry or use guns. Now, Elmer and Sam have both appeared in roles with guns before, so it isn’t the hugest leap.
However, a rather bizarre development is that the series is going to go back to the old plot line of Elmer hunting Bugs Bunny. However, in place of his old shotgun, he is going to be wielding not a bow or other projectile weapon, but a scythe. My initial reaction to this news was along the lines of “who hunts rabbits with a scythe?” And then it hit me:
Morbin Blackhawk
Yeah, I agree
Honestly a scythe seems a lot scarier to me. Classic cartoons have used all sorts of melee weapons, projectile weapons (both real and improvised), and explosives; but a scythe? That just seems so sinister. There's a reason Morbin has it; he's scary and evil.
*Shakes his head back and forth in agreement.*
