Hey all! I hope this finds you well (still)!
I have introduced the series to my mom and she is now reading it allowed in school. As we were reading the Blackstar of Kingston I had a theory. The Tunneler says that the Seventh District had been around since just after the Battle of Ayman Lake. Also if I remember right the pickaxe has also been passed down since then. The ship was carrying pickaxes. So this leads me to 2 theories. Either one of the rabbits on board was carried off while carrying his pickaxe and just decided to keep it, or Burnley's pickaxe that Fleck threw at the birds was somehow obtained by one of the rabbits being carried off. Another option is the preylords just decided to give them pickaxes for the mine which is the least complicated but also the least fun.
In other news I just discovered the Dragons in our Midst Series by Bryan Davis. I discovered it through the GE Wiki which has some affiliate Christian Fantasy wikis. So far the first book is really good! Has anyone else read it?
My Place Beside You,
~Smalls [thanks to @Kaleb for the closing inspiration (it's pretty logical when you think about it)]
I just realized that there are not one but two Kalebs... Interesting
That was a problem with the first theory but my second theory is likely! I mean the preylords did have weapons but it would be interesting if it was a pickaxe was from the ship.
Cool as it would be if the Tunneler’s pickaxe was Burnley’s, it seems doubtful. The text of Black Star indicates that the bird hit by Burnley’s axe went into the water, presumably with the axe…lodged in them. Makes it seem likely that the axe ended up on the bottom of Ayman Lake. So presumably the first Tunneler either got another pickaxe from the ship, or was provided one by the Preylords.
Here’s an interesting fact: whoever the first Tunneler was, he wasn’t a member of the OG Black Star Company. All members of that group are accounted for at the end of the book. Burnley is dead, Galt fled, Massie off with Whitson, and the rest (including the unnamed ones) staying at Kingston.
That's a very interesting theory!
Dude! Those books are on my tbr list
I haven't read Dragons in our Midst, but I know people who like the series. You happen to be one of them.
Great theory! I really need to reread all the books… It is interesting there are two Kaleb’s. It’s also interesting that they are both bad at keeping passwords…
Yay! Oo! I never gave District Seven much thought 😅
YES OH MY WORD YES I JUST READ IT THIS WEEKEND!!! It's absolutely incredible, in writing, characters, and Christianity!!! I'm waiting on the second series (Oracles of Fire) from my library right now!!
