Just wondering how you guys view the world. By that I mean do you think life is fun, depressing, dreary, happy, ect. Also I haven’t said it yet, and I know it’s a little late, but Happy New Year.
Happy New Year Kaleb! Glad to have you back!!Um, to me, the world seems kind of frazzled and messy... it did seem depressing for me a while ago, and tbh, I still dont like watching the news. But God is faithful and He is going to take care of His children, even though everything is such a mess. A few verses that I memorized a couple years ago keep coming to mind and help me keep going: John 16:33 "I have told you these things so that in Me you will have peace. In this world, you will have trouble; but take heart! I have overcome the world!" And another is the first few verses of John 14; our pastor just spoke about it this last Sunday: "In my Father's house there are many rooms. If that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I WILL come back and take you to be with me where I AM." (It may not be the exact translation... it was three years ago that I memorized these 😬)
Here's a quote from C.S. Lewis. He was addressing the atomic bomb, but this applies to many different situations.
''In one way we think a great deal too much of the atomic bomb. “How are we to live in an atomic age?” I am tempted to reply: “Why, as you would have lived in the sixteenth century when the plague visited London almost every year, or as you would have lived in a Viking age when raiders from Scandinavia might land and cut your throat any night; or indeed, as you are already living in an age of cancer, an age of syphilis, an age of paralysis, an age of air raids, an age of railway accidents, an age of motor accidents.”In other words, do not let us begin by exaggerating the novelty of our situation. Believe me, dear sir or madam, you and all whom you love were already sentenced to death before the atomic bomb was invented: and quite a high percentage of us were going to die in unpleasant ways. We had, indeed, one very great advantage over our ancestors—anesthetics; but we have that still. It is perfectly ridiculous to go about whimpering and drawing long faces because the scientists have added one more chance of painful and premature death to a world which already bristled with such chances and in which death itself was not a chance at all, but a certainty. This is the first point to be made: and the first action to be taken is to pull ourselves together. If we are all going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb when it comes find us doing sensible and human things—praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts—not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs. They may break our bodies (a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds."
This is a very interesting question....one we're not sure we can answer. We view the world as pretty much what all of you have said, but we know it is not our final home. The world is temporary and we are here to serve God to the best of our abilities...Sometimes the world makes no sense, we can't see what good God could bring from the mess we humans make. Sometimes the world is perfect and everything falls into place. But perfection is fragile and can be broken. Our lives have been a series of ups and downs which have caused us to view the world in many different ways.
Heartbreaking
Cruel
Unfair
Happy
Amazing
Hopeful
And we could go on. The thing is no matter how much we change how we view the world we try to remember that it's not how we view the world that truly matters but who we view the world through. When you view the world through God, it becomes a much better place. Not because it changes but simply because how you view it changes. This is not our home, but while we are here we will serve the Father till he calls to our true home which is perfect!
the world is full of wonders that are so hard to explain
the world is unbelievable
Just think about it...
The world is ugly: pollution, people making horrible mistakes, natural disasters
the world is broken: Think about how many people go home and cry their hearts out, how many people are bullied, how many people suffer from depression, how many people harm themselves beyond what many can imagine, how many people are broken hearted, they feel like they will never be loved again. how many people are in an abusive relationship.
the world is crushing: The people on the streets, begging for food. the people who lose ones they love. The people who have no say in their death, no preparation at all.
The world is heartbreaking: There are people out there who are feeling one of the worse pains ever. a mans wife just came home from her appointment at the doctors office in sobs because they lost their baby.
the world is a mess: politics, rules, protests, raids.
the world is falling apart: Global warming, disagreements between countries, arguments between parents, divorce, hate.
the world is wonderful: People standing up for what is right, people fighting to undo the bad, make the world great again.
The world is exciting: New computers and phones, the excitement on Christmas morning, those time when you hug your siblings and actually mean it because you realize how much you love them, those little surprises your mom or dad gives you sometimes
The world is adventurous: So much to explore, so much to try. So much to conquer, so much to choose from. You can be anything. You can do anything. Bungee jumping, rock climbing, traveling the world, dancing in the rain, crying when you see the stars at their best image.
The world is full of wonders so hard to explain: Gravity and science, how your DNA works, how things are made. Global transportation and harvesting of grains. The way your hair sticks up because of static electricity, the way that when you plug your phone in it charges. the fact that there is a such thing as a phone! The science behind acceleration, and cars. How typing on a document works!
The world is unbelievable: The mountains growing or shrinking, the way that when you step in snow it leaves a foot print. The fact that when you move your pencil a certain way it makes marks, and those marks are understood by billions of people. The fact that someone can look at something, and know what it is instantly. The fact that somehow we got here, somehow it all started.
The world is something amazing, and crazy and strange. And it might hurt you, it might make you feel down. But think about what it is, think about what its giving you, not what its taking away.

Actually we didn't! Idk who's up next but, yeah, it's still going, even though no one has posted a chapter in a few weeks. You can definitely still join in! (I'm sure @The Fowlers would say yes, lol.)
Hmm, very interesting question! (Happy New Year too!) I would say I think life is all those things - fun, depressing, dreary, happy, horrible, and wonderful. Like, even when it's sunny and all the best things are happening, I can still find something to be sad at, and even when I'm depressed, I can still find something to smile at. But I do think life is always good, (in the deeper sense of the word) because God is always good, and things could always be worse, and even the fact that we are alive is something worth celebrating. Um, currently for me, life is rather dreary and mildly fun, if that makes any sense. It changes very often though, so tomorrow may be wonderful and cheery. So yeah, lol. How about you?
I was just wondering how you were, so, how are you, @Kaleb?
About the world: life is generally fun, except when I get in a bad mood, which is my fault.
Ralph Waldo Emerson — 'For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.'I admit, there are things I dislike (History, for example. 🙄), but I can get past those things dutifully.

All of your answers are AMAZING! I’m so glad people responded in this manner.

@Saraina , did you guys ever finish the story guild? Just wondering. If not, I probably won’t join it though.
