Ok, so I haven't written any fa fiction yet, let's see how this goes, lol!
Prologue
The sky was darkening, turning the clouds purple and the sky orange, making the leaves dark green and gray shades, and making shadows appear in long, crawly fingers across the field. The tall grass was, perhaps, a dangerous place to be, but Dick wasn't thinking about safety. He rarely did anyway. The moon was bright and full above him and stars were appearing in the ever-darkening sky.
Dick's ears twitched back and fourth, for, though danger did not frighten him, he was a rabbit; cautious, ready. His brown fur appeared darker among the grasses and hid him well. The thought of home kept his sore feet and weak knees moving. On the other side of this field was his warren home.
A sudden rustling sound made him freeze. His ears went straight up, he lowered his body and set himself in position to jump if necessary, his hand went straight to his sword. The wind sang softly over the grass, now silent. Dick kept walking.
Minutes later, he stumbled upon a place in the field where no grass grew and where dirt was the dominant substance. He moved aside the yellowed weeds and his feet fell upon hard ground. He froze. There was a wolf in this clearing. It was lying on it's side. Was it asleep? Had it heard him? Could he still make it across the field unharmed?
As he stood thinking, the wolf raised it's head and looked at him. She stared with large, sad eyes and Dick had a fleeting sense of pity for the creature. No! No! He thought, That's a wolf! They are savages! They eat your kind! Don't feel sorry for it! He drew his sword and prepared for a bloody fight, but the wolf only looked on, sadly. Dick stopped. The wolf was nudging something in his direction. It was a small ball of fur. Dick took a wary step forward, his sword still raised above his head.
He looked down. The furry thing was a pup, a wolf pup! "Whatever do you want ME to do with this?!" Dick asked indignantly.
"Take him," said the wolf, her voice was raspy and pained.
"What?!"
"I was looking for a rabbit," she wheezed, "your kind are kind and generous, I was so sure...you are always giving people second chances...so gove my son a chance, for I will not be able to give him any." The wolf raised her head and Dick saw a wound on her neck that was clearly fatal. This wolf was going to die.
"But--I..." Dick sputtered.
The wolf sighed. "I guess I could not have expected anything else, my kind eat your kind, you know." she looked down at her paws. "Though I myself never ate a rabbit in my life," Her voice was sincere, Dick knew she was teling the truth. "Very well," she said at last. "Leave him here, but do not harm him. i only just barely saved him from his uncle, Garlacks, who was trying to kill both of us. I now know the cost of helping rabbits."
Dick was reaching down to pick up the cub and ask a question, but when he looked back at the mother wolf, he was dead. What a horrible scene; a rabbit holding a wolf pup, and the dead mother of the wolf not three feet from him. Dick was now the guardian of this wolf, it was his responsibility. But what would come of it? Could a wolf really live in peace with a rabbit? Or were all wolves evil savages by definition? Dick would just have to wait and see.
Oh wow!!!! That was awesome!!!! The first scene, crazy!!! The description were so eye catching and comparing the shadows to fingers....genius!!! We love it!!! We can't wait to see what happens next this is so cool!!!!
