The cold water embraced him as he fell, but he didn’t try to keep from falling; he knew this was how he wanted it. To end the torture of his mind. The could have been, should have been, what would have been always and forever plaguing him would now be left behind. All for love he had done, for love of a doe. The love of his life who had never looked, never glanced, never seen the pain she caused him. What could have been saved and remade, now ashes and dust. What should have been victory turned to defeat. What would have been lifelong happiness, a trap he could never escape. All he had wanted was for her to notice him. To see him. To see how he loved her, to acknowledge his existence. But no, she had not. Never had she once given him a thought, or a look, or a touch. Not a kind word from her, not a kind look, until after he had done the deed that could never be undone. He hadn’t wanted to do it, but the madness in his mind had drove him to it. Then she had looked at him with pity and hate. Even then she did not acknowledge him and if she did only with contempt. But couldn’t she see she had drove him to it. She could have stopped it all, saved them all! Made it never be.
The thoughts in his mind whirled round and round like the current that was dragging him down. Death was what he deserved, he knew, but what of her? She who had drove him to it would live. She would be happy and free, and he would die miserable a slave to the evil of his broken heart. His mind said to repent but his heart would not, for it could still feel the hurt which her actions had wrought.
Had he gone too far? Had he done too much? For love, never! His anger inside would not ebb and the hurt he felt would not give way. He had thought by doing all he had done that somehow; he could make the pain go away. That somehow by taking away the ones that many loved he could make them feel his pain. His hurt, his lose as keenly as he. But no, somehow, they still managed to find happiness, to love another, to move on, but he could never move on. And now, as he spiraled through the water on toward the pit and his watery grave, he still could not let go of something from so long ago.
Of the hurt from his past, the anger in his heart, and the longing that made a hole that could never been filled. He looked up at the sky one last time and saw its clear blue glow, oh if only his heart could be as pure and unbroken as the wide-open sky. But it was not, it was broken and riddled with holes, tainted by the evil deeds he had done. He was pulled under by the whirlpools current and sucked down into the watery depths. And the last thing he thought with his last fleeting breath was, “For love, I would do it all again.”

Bear the Flame!
Wow... Umm, ouch. This was awesome. In EE this was one of my favorite parts. Mostly because I like devastating scenes. Mwahaha. Great job, can’t wait for the art.
Totally... I wonder more about Garten nowadays... what kind of life did he live before he joined Morbin against Jupiter? I mean, creativity allows us to imagine, but still...
Wooowww - heartbreaking and so amazing. I agree totally with @Bearer of the Flame, the way you described everything was captivating. Together with this and The Traitor's Love chapter series by @LuvGreenEmber I finally feel truly and deeply sorry for Garten.
