Fear called to Caspian in a way that felt like it was haunting his very presence. And that was exactly what was happening. He couldn't bear the thought of losing another, it hurt in ways he could never describe. Almost like it hurt deeper than someone's stabbing a knife through you. Caspian's heart ached along with his mind, only if Kent was here he would know what to do, yes he would know exactly what to do. Kent was always the brave one while Caspian was the weak one.
But Kent was gone, gone, gone, gone just like that in the blink of an eye. His brother was gone by the same thing that the three does would be killed by now if he couldn't do something.
As Caspian thought about all of this so much anger tore through him like glass cutting deep through you. He stared at the wolves as they drew ever closer with their sharp, yellow teeth bared and ready to tear them apart. More anger raged through him. Anger towards Morbin. Anger towards the wolves, toward all the evil in this world, but there was also some anger towards the Maker himself for putting Caspian through all this misery and making him watch every single one of them die.
Caspian tore his gaze away from the three wolves, a wave of tears flowing from him. He needed to control his awful emotions. He took two long, deep breaths but they only helped partially. He felt someone tightly grab his good arm. Caspian turned to see the scared face of Maraly her eyes growing ever wider at the moment and Caspian could hear the sound of her heart racing fiercely up and down in her chest.
She shook her head as tears poured down her face, "I don't want to die! I can't do this! I can't please get me out of here, please!" She repeated the words over and over as more tears slipped from her eyes.
Caspian looked down as the ache began to grow ever so worse cutting deeper and deeper and deeper until he could bear it no more. So he did the only thing he knew to do that was to speak with a trembling voice, "I know Maraly and I can't watch you or anyone else die. So this is why I'm going to tell you one thing..." he looked her in the eye, "run. Run Maraly, run as fast as you can, and don't look back whatever you do. Can you do that? Can you do that for me?" Caspian asked as his eyes jumped from her to the wolves that were growing ever so close.
More and more tears slipped down from Maraly's face, soaking her deep brown fur. Caspian felt the grip on his arm tighten as she spoke. "But... but what about you?"
"It's okay, it's okay, I'll be there," Caspian said as he managed a weak smile. He then added, "Now go and take the others with you."
Maraly wiped the wave of tears from her face as she yelled out, "Sarah, Ella, let's go!" With that being said Maraly ran off with Sarah right by her side, but Caspian froze, Ella. Ella was nowhere to be seen.
Caspian's heart began to pound fiercely against his chest as his eyes began wildly searching the area for any sign of Ella. He felt his eyes widen as they rested on Ella who stood gazing frozenly at the wolves. Her eyes were wide with pure terror.
Caspian glanced at a wolf who let out an evil growl that caused shivers to go through him. As they came ever closer Caspian glanced back at Ella who stood frozen in time. He called out her name as loud as he possibly could but she didn't move, not even a muscle in her body. She was as stiff as can be. Caspian yelled her name a few more times then he began to worry and the fear that haunted him came back. Caspian tried to push the haunting feelings away but they kept coming back to the very top of his mind.
Not again, no, no, not again! I can't lose someone, not again! As all of this ran through him and Caspian began to feel his blood grow warm. He did the only thing he knew how to do, he ran as fast as he could towards Ella still yelling her name. His legs ached along with his lungs, begging him to stop. He didn't listen. He pushed all the pain away as one thought entered his mind, 'No one was going to die unless it was him.'
Caspian stood in front of Ella, standing face to face with her as he gasped for air and waited for it to come back to his lungs but he knew he had no time for that. He put his good hand firmly on Ella's shoulder as he began to roughly shake her, tears streaming from his face.
Caspian began to call out with as much strength as he could bear, "Please Ella, come on! Please, it's okay. I have you, please, wake up! Come on, everything is going to be all right, it's okay. Not again, please, please, please, please! I can't lose someone."
Ella was still frozen in her own world. Caspian began to shake her harder the awful ache beginning to form inside him, an ache that would never go away if she were to die. Caspian glanced over his shoulder to see one of the large wolves with his sharp, yellow teeth ready and bared, its glowing red eyes filled with hatred. It was coming straight towards them ready to tear them apart.
Ella finally unfroze and let out a loud piercing scream. Caspian's eyes widened and his heart raced faster than it ever had in his entire life. He thought about reaching for his battleax but by the time he got to it, it'd be too late. So he did the only other thing that came to mind, he put his good arm around Ella's shoulder then with all the force he had he jumped out of the way.
He and Ella fell to the ground hard, rolling over and over again. Caspian saw a blur of gray and black fur, out of the corner of his eye, lash out at the big wolf that would have attacked them if they hadn't moved. Deep down Caspian knew who the blur was so he yelled out, "Shasta, no!"
Wait, Shasta? Oh MYYYYYY!!!! I felt awful for both Caspian and poor Ella as she was just frozen there. Amazing writing and descriptions of emotions!!! How can it keep getting only more and more intense and cliffhanger-y each time!?! (Also sorry I'm late on this one!)
I'm gonna cry. Urgh. Urgh. No. No. No. No.
They haven't died yet! I am amazed! But his is all so startling and confusing!
