Hey-oh guys, so this chapter is shorter than usual and not really important, but whatever. I’ve been distracted this week because we did a written interview with a friend of ours, it was really fun, you can find it here on our blog: www.sisters-three.com
We also have not one but three free books that we need to read and do an honest review about for the authors and we have vaca in a few weeks. We’ve been surfing Amazon for a pack for Rue (yes, we’re getting a backpack for the dog, don’t judge).
I’ve also have been, I mean, I also have not been reading, why would I do that? *coughs* Okay so I have been *coughs* reading instead of thinking of ideas for my fanfic, *lowers head in shame* and if you ask no I have not been drawing Ascendance characters instead of thinking about my fanfic. Okay, yeah I did that too *closes eyes, I’m a horrible person*. But I did write a short totally unimportant chapter….soo, yeah.
(Disclaimer: Please don’t be mad if you want to be mad, be mad at Kayti and Rissy for making me read the Ascendance series without telling me it is totally addicting and you just can’t get yourself to stop reading or drawing the characters or even stop thinking about it so you can write a fanfic chapter that actually makes sense, sorry sissies it’s all y’alls fault. Not really, but I had to blame it on someone to make myself feel better… 😊)
Okay, sorry, rambling. So, what I’m trying to say is sorry it’s short and is so unimportant. I tried.
Jaidie
Peter’s sleep was fitful. Full of nightmares of what horrible things could have happened to Rexly after he had runoff. Peter tossed his head to the side with a groan, trying to wake himself, but it wasn’t working. All he could see was Daggler in the moment when he had killed Rexly’s father, only now he was killing Rexly.
Peter kicked his feet. “No, no Rexly, no stop!” he mumbled as he jerked his head around. “Rexly!” He yelled kicking at the blankets.
“Rexly! REXLY!” He bolted up soaked in a cold sweat, his breath coming in short shallow gasps.
“No, no, no, no, Rexly! Rexly, Rexly, REXLY! REXLY!” he yelled as tears coursed down his face.
The door burst open and Doctor Johnston and Sydney came running in, followed by a panicked-looking Tyse. Tyse pushed past Doctor Johnston and knelt beside Peter’s bed. He took Peter’s hand in his own.
“Lad, what’s wrong? We heard ya screaming, are ya hurt?” Tyse asked his voice full of worry.
Peter wrapped his good arm Tyse neck and leaned his head against his shoulder. “Rexly, Rexly, Rexly is gone. He’s gone. Oh, Rexly, he’s gone they killed him. They killed him, oh Rexly!” Peter sobbed his frail form shaking uncontrollably.
Tyse slowly slid Peter off the bed and cradled him in his lap, rubbing the back of his head. Peter closed his eyes and hugged Tyse tighter.
“Shhh, it’s okay lad, it’s okay. It was just a dream,” Tyse said reassuringly.
Peter shook his head. “No, no it wasn’t. I saw him, I saw Daggler he ran him…he ran him…him…thr…thr…” Peter choked on sobs, “he ran him thr…through. Oh Tyse, it was awful! His face was so pale and blood…oh Tyse, they killed him! They killed my best friend! Oh Tyse, hold me. Hold me, don’t let go! Oh, hold me!” Peter dug his fingers into Tyse’s back as more and more tears continued to fall.
Doctor Johnston bent beside Tyse, his face showing his worry. “Sydney dear, would you please go get me some warm milk.”
Sydney nodded, she looked at Peter with pity then left.
Doctor Johnston put his hands on Peter’s face. “It’s alright Peter, it’s alright. It was just a bad dream, I promise, it’s alright.”
Peter shook his head. “No, no I saw it. I saw him fall; he’s gone!”
Sydney came in with the glass of milk in her hands. She set the glass on the nightstand and sat beside him. “It’s okay,” she said softly.
He shook his head and wrapped his arms around Doctor Johnston’s neck, sobbing. He couldn’t shake the image of Rexly. He saw him laying on the ground, limp, a bright scarlet wound in his middle, it was horrible, terrifying.
“I dreamed I saw a valley,
When I woke, it was a mountain,
I climbed to the peak and fell asleep
And rolled down in the fountain,”
Sydney’s soft voice sang. Peter looked at her his brows furrowed. She continued singing.
“In the morning when you’re shaken
It might be you were mistaken,
The things that seemed, were only dreamed,
So sleep and dream and waken.”
Sydney laid her hand on his arm but continued to sing.
“I woke to windy weather
And had dreamed the sky was clear,
So I said, I’ll go back to bed,
And that’s just when the rainbow appeared.”
Peter wiped at his eyes and sniffled, Sydney smiled at him.
“In the morning when you’re shaken
It might be you were mistaken,
The things that seemed, were only dreamed,
So sleep and dream and waken.”
She wiped his tears away, “Oh, sleep and dream and waken.”
Peter ran his arm across his face and nodded. “Thank you,” he said quietly.
Sydney nodded and handed him the glass of milk. He took it and once he finished his milk Doctor Johnston picked him up and laid him in his bed. Then Doctor Johnston and Tyse left the room.
Sydney smiled at him. “Goodnight, Peter.”
“Sydney wait!” Peter called, she turned to him, “thanks, again.” She blushed. “Of course,” she said as she left the room.
Peter lay there, he felt better now but he still couldn’t deny the growing void in his chest. What if it hadn’t been just a dream? What if it was a sign? What if it wasn’t what had happened but what would happen, like a vision?
He pulled his blanket up to his chin and tried to fall asleep but it was fruitless. He looked at the ceiling. “What do I do?” he asked anyone who might be listening.
Tah-dah! Wasn’t that horrible? Lol…I don’t even think anyone else was supposed to know that song…hahahaha...I guess they do now. I’m so weird, this was horrible, but oh well! I gave it a swing. But hey on the bright side I finished the Ascendance books I had so next week’s chapter should actually make sense. (That is, of course, if I don’t become addicted to The Prince Warriors, no promises I won’t. *Smiles nervously before hiding under the bed with said book*)
Lol JAIDIE!!!! But lol same's been happening with me, except it's Redwall. *Shoves book under the bed* lol!!! I love that song so much!!!!!!! But I'm worried about Rexly now. And that was NOT horrible, it was amazing!
