Snow fell softly on the village green on top of Cloud Mountain. There were many young bucks and does running around, giggling as they ran through the snow. They were building snowbucks, as well as snow forts. Some of the guards of Cloud Mountain were helping build the snow forts, excited for the inevitable snowball fight.
“Mr. Caleb!” a young buck called, struggling to lift a snow block onto the wall. “Please help!”
Caleb, a brown buck in the guard, quickly ran over to the buck. He picked up the young buck so he could put the block on the wall.
“Thanks!” the buck called, quickly running to get more blocks after Caleb put him down.
“No problem bucky!” Caleb called after him. He turned to walk back to the part of the wall he had been working on, but he was met with a snowball to the face. He heard a giggle as he was wiping the snow off his face. He saw a white wolf grinning at him.
"Bailey!" he shouted, annoyance in his voice. He started walking towards her, collecting snow as he went.
"Uh oh," Bailey said, running around a corner of the fort.
"Come back here!" Caleb called, giving chase.
He sped around the corner, almost running into a golden brown buck, causing the buck to drop a snow block.
"Sorry Picket!" Caleb called back as he quickly went around Picket. Picket sighed and went back to get another block.
Bailey glanced over her shoulder and saw Caleb closing in on her. She weaved around rabbits. She ran into a gray rabbit.
“What are you running from?” Uncle Wilfred asked, slightly concerned. While almost all of the rabbits didn’t mind Bailey (at this point, everyone knew she was a wolf), not everyone trusted her. He worried about her, sometimes more than before, since those who didn’t trust her are more likely to do something drastic. Still, she had made a lot of good friends her age, and several of the young does and bucks would follow her around, begging her for stories and for her to take them flying.
Bailey paused for a second. “Caleb,” she replied, breathing hard, her breath freezing in the air.
“What did you do?” Uncle Wilfred asked, smirking, his concern gone.
“I may have thrown snow in his face,” Bailey explained, glancing to see where Caleb was. Oddly enough, she no longer saw him. “In my defense, it was aimed for his back, he just turned around at the wrong time.”
“Oh Bailey,” Uncle Wilfred said, shaking his head. “Well, enjoy the snow! I have some work to get done.” He walked towards the front of the fort, probably to grab more snow bricks.
“I will!” Bailey called back, turning around a corner. The way was blocked. “Odd,” she said to herself. “I thought this went further in. Oh well.” She turned around and was hit in the face with a snowball. She wiped the snow off her face to see Caleb, looking quite proud of himself.
“You know this means war, right?” Bailey asked, picking up more snow.
“It has since you threw the first snowball,” Caleb replied, confidence in his voice, as he started to make another snowball. He threw it at her, but she dodged it and took to the air.
“You’ll have to do better than that!” Bailey exclaimed, dropping snow on Caleb. He rolled out of the way, grabbing snow as he went. She flew over the edge of the fort, putting some distance between her and Caleb. Bailey flew low, collecting snow. Caleb, who had run out of the fort by now, threw a snowball at her, which she easily dodged, but it still made contact with a black rabbit who was standing to the side, watching all the activity.
“Who was that?” he asked, his voice hoarse. He looked over the rabbits and locked eyes with Caleb, who smiled awkwardly.
“Whoops,” Caleb said, shrugging.
“Bucks!” Helmer called, bringing Picket, Jo, Perk, and Cole over. They huddled and Helmer whispered so no one would overhear. “We have been attacked by one of our own. Now we must bring justice!”
“Snowball fight!” Jo yelled, starting to collect snow. And with those two words, everything descended into fun-filled madness.
This was a lot of fun to write! Thanks @Dragon Girl for the idea. And, yes, this is going to be several chapters. Not sure how long yet, but I started writing and I already have almost two chapters worth and still want to do more. But it has been nice to get writing again. Don't worry, I will try to work on my other fanfic as well.
I don't know when or if they would have all been together at Cloud Mountain, but for a Christmas story, I thought it would be fun anyway. Besides, if Fowlers weren't there, who would tease Picket? Anyway, I hope you like it! Merry Christmas!
Ahhhhh, I love this! It's so fun! Hahahahha....I like Bailey! This was awesome! I love your writing style! AMAZING job👍😁💚❤💚💚❤💚💚❤❤
