Okay so he’s chapter 5!!!
Alan ran his heart racing, his blood pumping, and his feet digging into the cold hard ground beneath them. The night was quiet, the only sound was the angry shouts of the Black Band as they chased the young group of rabbits through the dark forest. The shouts were accompanied by the howling wind as it blew through the forest making the trees sway and creak overhead. Alan looked up at the swaying trees that made him feel uneasy, then he tore his eyes away from the creaking trees and focused on the task at hand, get to the gate then he would be free.
But then he heard one of the Black Band yell, “Fire!” He began to run faster, ducking under fallen trees as arrows swished past him sticking into trees, but some found his comrades. Alan kept running, he ran faster then he ever had before. He ran using every muscle in his body to push him forward. He saw the gate just ahead, almost there!
He was almost there, almost free! But then he heard a cry of pain as the rabbit beside him fell to the ground. He stopped then looked at the gate, almost there he was going to be free, but then he looked at the rabbit and quickly rushed over to him. He fell to his knees beside him, flinching as he saw the arrow sticking in the bucks back.
“Are you okay?” Alan asked, he didn’t know what to do, but he knew he had to do something.
“No,” the rabbit said through gritted teeth.
“Can I do anything to help you? “There’s one thing you can do for me…” the buck said his breath shallow.
Alan nodded. “What is it?”
The rabbit groaned as he pulled something out of his pocket and handed it to Alan. Alan looked down at the small object in his hand it was a necklace made from a simple rope chain and a small medal pendant with a heart craved in it. He looked back at the rabbit. “Give it to Z…Zeke,” the rabbit said, and then he lay still.
Alan got up tears streaming down his face as he stuffed the necklace in his pocket and ran off trying to catch up with the others. He wiped the tears from his eyes, was it even worth it? Why were they really doing this? All for what, freedom? Freedom from reality? This was life they were running from, they were blindly running, running in hopes of finding something that they weren’t even sure existed. What if his father was right? What if there was no such thing as the Mended Wood? Or what if it was just a story made up for kids, but David believed it, right? Alan thoughts were interrupted by a sharp surging pain in his right leg that made him fall to the cold ground with a cry. He looked back to see an arrow stuck in his leg and the Black Band were coming straight for him! He could do nothing. He was done for.
Hope you guys like it! Any feedback would be great, and that’s that. I feel like I always say the same thing to you guys, but I don’t know what else to say… So, I guess I’m just really bad at coming up with things to say…lol…
