I'm sad it's over, I'll miss these characters so much. They have grown to be something I love and I'll miss the plot and lines so much... Here you go, one last time.
Laughter filled Fritz’s ears as he and his friend burst into his large brick home. Camden winced as a shrill note filled the air, followed by a chorus of singing.
“Fight! FIIIIIIIIGGGGGTTTT FOOORRR WHATTT I BELIVVVEEEE INNNN!!!!” And then lots of banging. They entered the kitchen and burst out in laughter. Esme and Mercy were perched on the table, holding spatulas as microphones. Boxes lined the corners, only half packed. Esme spun around dramatically, tripping over her own feet and falling to the floor. Mercy shrieked and hopped down next to Esme, helping her to her feet. They bent over in giggles as Fritz and Camden ignored them, continuing to pack boxes. “How was your last day of work?” Esme gasped once her giggles had subsided. “Good.” Fritz said, rolling his eyes at her. She grinned, her eye pulling up at the corner. “Do you notice anything different about me?” she taunted, spinning clumsily. Fritz looked her up and down guiltily, he didn’t see anything. “New dress?” he guessed, wincing when Mercy and Esme traded exasperated looks. “No!” Mercy said, spinning on her fiance, “Do you notice anything different?!” Camden’s eyes widened and he shrugged. “I got a new eyepatch!” Esme exclaimed, giving up on the guessing game. Fritz looked at it instinctively, only to see that nothing was different. “It’s… cool?” he said reluctantly. They beamed. “Sorry we didn’t finish packing.” Mercy said, although she didn’t continue packing, instead her and Esme plopped onto the floor, sitting and watching them.Fritz placed the last vase into a bag and handed it to Camden who threw it out the door. It crashed to the ground, breaking but no one seemed to care. “I can’t believe we’re leaving him.” Esme whispered finally. Mercy gasped and hugged her close. Fritz looked down. “It’s too painful to stay.” His thoughts drifted to the young buck that he had taken in. He had been a charming young lad, but when they said they were leaving Terrilain for adventure he had refused to go with them. If Fritz and Esme were married they could have adopted him, but he had only stayed the nights, away from his abusive parents. He had taken Fritz’s last name, but Fritz doubted he would keep it. Kree Vlum. He sighed again. Kree had decided to stay, not only because him and Esme weren’t old enough to be his parents, but also he had said he would serve Bleston until death. “We should go.” Esme said slowly, getting to her feet and looking around. “Where are we going?” she asked, for the millionth time. “I can’t tell you!” Fritz argued again, smiling at her scowl. She pretended to storm out the door, Mercy at her heels.
“Wow.” Esme gasped as they entered their new home. “It’s so cute! And Mercy and Camden are just next door! I can’t believe you got the guys to build this!” Fritz smiled as she tramped to the kitchen and yanked open a cupboard.”No food! This is a fraud!” Fritz laughed, setting the boxes he had been carrying down and grabbing her hand. “Come with me.” He said, leading her out and down the steps. “Where are we going?” she asked, frowning as he put a blindfold over her eyes. “I hate when you do this.”
“But you always like the surprise, don’t you?”
Esme grumbled, something that sounded like, “Sure, whatever.”
Fritz led her on, all the while smiling at her beautiful face.
“Okay.” He said, wrapping his arms around her from behind, resting his head on hers. “Take it off.” She did, and burst into tears. The sun was high in the sky, shining down on them. Causing the thousands of sunflowers to look in that direction. A cool breeze caused the petals to fall on them. Esme turned around and buried her face into him. He pulled away, looking her in her piercing eye.
“In a sunflower field?” He whispered into her ear. He bent down and pulled out the thick gold band from his pocket. Esme wiped tears from her face, looking down on him.
“In a sunflower field.”
