Marisa spun around, making sure her dress looked as pretty when she turned around as it did when she stood still, it did. It was a pale blue with black lace flowers curing up the bottom she smiled at herself in the mirror, thinking about how happy she was with it. She heard a sharp rap on the door and she grinned wide, rushing over. She opened the door with a smile to see Richard, also grinning.

“Hello M'lady.” he said, bowing with a flourish of his hand.

“Hello kind sir!” she said, then tried to hide her enthusiasm. “So, where are we going?”

“That is a surprise.”

“I hate surprises!” Oh course she did. She could never like surprises again. Not after what Fritz had done to her, springing the news about a fake land on her only to expect her to believe him! She felt her face flush slightly with the bad memory. She was young then, young and in love. “What?” Richard asked as he offered his hand for her to take. She took it gladly and they set down the steps of her new house, arms swinging back and forth between them. “Oh, nothin…” she said looking into the distance. He smiled at her and she turned to face him. “What are you lookin at?”

“You. You’re so pretty.”

She flushed a deeper color of crimson. “Thanks.” she stuttered. No one had ever called her pretty before. Richard took a sharp turn around the bakery, leading Marisa to a place she hadn’t seen before. An ally, leading out of sight. She took a quick intake of breath, she hated this. But she trusted Richard. They had been together for a while now and he wouldn’t let anything happen to her. “Are you alright with going through?” he asked. “Yah.” she said. “Yah, I am.” he nodded, and she could see slight guilt in his eyes for making her do this. She closed her eyes and followed him quickly, tightening her grip on his hand. It was over before she knew they had entered the ally and a strong scent of raspberry and rose infused pastries met her nose. “Oh!” she screeched opening her eyes quickly. A small table was set neatly next to a large crowd of brush that casted a shadow over the elegant picnic. “I love it!” she said and he smirked at her. “I knew you would.”

“These are my favorite!” She called to him and she ran to the table. She plopped into her chair as daintily as she could when she was in a hurry and threw multiple on her plate. She was already half done with one when Richard sat down across from her. “Fank oo!” she said between mouthfuls of food. He laughed heartily and served himself with twice more than her. She mock glared at him, “Those are for me!”

“No, there for us.”

“Fine.” she grumbled, still smiling. They ate in silence for a while until Richard spoke. “So.” he said “Wassup.” she smiled, and swallowed. “I’m spending time with you.”

“Because I’m awesome?”

“No! You're the least awesome rabbit I know. It's because I love you silly!” They both froze as if the words still hung in the air. They both red and Marisa moved first, wiping her hands on her napkin. “So-” she started, trying to break the silence, but Richard interrupted her. “I love you too.” he whispered. “Oh.” she said. “Yah.”

“I love you too.” they met each other's gaze. “Okay.” Richard said. “Now what?” she shrugged.

“I don’t know.”

“Cool.”

“Yah. Cool…”
