Rissy
She walked around the corner of the burning house, the flames tall and massive as they took the house down. Nothing but ashes would soon remain. The smoke was so thick it was hard for her to see anyone. She looked toward the captain and gazed into his deep blue eyes; a scar ran across his left eye. She looked down at the limp form of the doe that he carried in his strong arms. The doe that laid in his arms was beautiful; she shook her head and looked back at the captain.
She then waited for him to speak, and finally, he did. His voice was smooth and calm, like a leader, of course, and he was her leader. But in charge of the captain was Lord Nakaw. She then turned her attention back to the captain. “Eileen, I have a task for you and your sister. That is if you think you can do it?”
She thought for a moment, could she do it? She had to. She needed to prove herself and her loyalty, for she owed the captain and Lord Nakaw her life. If it had not been for them, she and her sister would have been dead a long time ago. “I’m ready for the task, captain.”
“Good, then this is what I need you to do. I need you to find a doe for me and two bucks. The doe should be easy, but I would be careful with her if I were you, she might surprise you. The one buck will be harder. He knows how to use his spear well. He is keen, intelligent, stubborn. He won’t listen to you or anyone, but his weakness is the doe so, use her to your advantage. The other buck should not be too hard, be easy with him, and you should do fine. If you bring them all back to me alive and well, then you and your sister will be allowed to join us as members of our Cause. Do you think you can do that?” The captain looked at her.
She looked back at him, looking once again into his deep blue eyes. A grin came to her face as she said, “I’m ready for the challenge, sir.” She then turned towards her sister, “Let’s go.”
They were about to walk away when she heard the captain say, “Wait.” Eileen turned toward the captain. “There is someone else I want to go with you,” the captain said, nodding his head to a buck. “He will be going with you three is better than two. Besides, you can always use a buck to help you and your sister.”
Eileen didn’t want this buck to help her, she didn’t need help, and neither did her sister. But if this was the way it had to be, then she guessed she would have to get over it. “Yes, captain,” she managed to say.
“And one more thing,” the captain looked at the buck and said, “he’ll be in charge.”
“Yessir,” Eileen said, looking down.
Not much feedback I can think of. Only, I didn't really understand the mind transition to Eileen. I liked this chapter a lot, though!
Is the beautiful doe Pearl? They set the house on fire? I guess I won't blame them yet, but they are my top suspects. I think they either set the house on fire, or are rescuing Pearl. Anyways, if the captain is bad, I hope he turns back. I hope they all do. I like the captain so far.
And how frustrating for Eileen! I am looking forward to the next chapter! Thanks, Rissy! 😃😃
