First off, lest you think this is about Heather, it is not. Okay that settled, there's no good way to say this so I'm just gonna say it. I'm not writing my other fanfic anymore. I hate it has nothing to do with y'all I just really, really don't like it anymore. So, I started this one instead. I hope you guys like this one, sorry if you're disappointed about the other one.

Anyway, @Rhys as promised your surprise is in this chapter!

She looked over the bright green field, which was filled with beautiful spring flowers of every color. The sky-high above her was a bright, vibrant, almost unreal blue. Not a single cloud tarnished its beautiful blue expanse. The sun smiled down, its dancing rays making everything sparkle and glimmer. A slight breeze blew, setting the flowers to dancing and making her close her golden-brown eyes to take it all in.

She loved this time of year when the air wasn't too hot or too cold, but just perfect. Spring was her favorite time of the year and today was perfect!

She looked over toward the creek at the edge of the field and watched as the water flowed over the colorful stones. She loved the sound of the rushing water, laughing its way along without a care in the world.

She smiled, enjoying the peace and tranquility of this spot. Then she heard someone calling her name.

"Alice. Alice. Alice Mae Goforth."

She turned to see who it was and wanted to run away when she saw him. Aaron McKillip. He made her so nervous, but of course, she didn't tell him that. Aaron was raven black, with a gray spot that wrapped around one of his grayish-blue eyes. His clothes were nice, at least compared to her humble ones. He was carrying his long, tall spear and looked very handsome standing there. She shook her head slightly. Keep it together, Alice.

Aaron smiled at her, and she smiled back nervously, wondering what he wanted. She then said slowly, trying to keep her voice even, "You were calling for me? Do you need something?"

"Well, I was wondering... If you would like to go to the spring dance with me?" Aaron said, looking as if he expected her to slap him. She had never seen Aaron looking so humble.

She didn't know what to think. She was so nervous. Did she want to go to the spring dance with Aaron? She looked at him and then down again; any doe would be jealous if they knew he had invited her. It was a way to show them that her molasses brown fur wasn't thought of as ugly by everyone and... She looked up at Aaron again to say, "I guess. I mean, sure."

That sounds so stupid, she thought to herself. Why had she said it like that? Now she wanted to hide somewhere, wanted to hide somewhere, and never come out.

Aaron started chuckling. Alice looked down and fumed silently; now he's laughing at me. She stared at the ground; she hated it when people laughed at her. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore, and she blurted out, "Why are you laughing?"

Aaron stopped laughing as he looked at her. "Nothing, it's just the way you word things." Aaron winked at her.

Alice looked down, feeling uncomfortable. She always made a fool of herself. While her sister always knew how to word things. Then again, her sister was known for that; her sister was also known for her beauty, while Alice was not.

But Alice was fine with that; she wasn't like the other does. The first thing that made her different was that she hated dresses; they just weren't her thing. So instead, she wore trousers and a blouse.

The second thing was that she didn't unusually talk to the other does. But neither did she talk to the bucks. She was usually very quiet. She shook her head as she heard Aaron talking to her.

She looked at him and said, "Huh. I'm sorry, I wasn't listening."

"I said, I'll pick you up around six," Aaron said, grinning at her.

"Oh, yes. I'll see you then," said Alice, that was so embarrassing. She looked down, glad that her fur covered the fact that she was blushing.

"I guess I'll go," Aaron said as he turned and began to leave.

Alice nodded and waved. She watched him leave, and once he was out of sight, she slapped her forehead. She had sounded like such a dummy.
