Disclaimer: I'm honestly not sure what to put here, so... Apart from Bailey/Broken Arrow, I do not own the characters. Um... other legal stuff... If anyone has a better way to phrase this part, please let me know so I can update it.
Bailey woke up to a knock on the door.
"Bailey!" she heard Heather call through the door, "Can we come in?"
"Sure," Bailey replied groggily, climbing out of bed. Heather opened the door and came in, followed by Picket on crutches. She was carrying a tray of food.
Heather set down the tray on the table and then they sat in a circle on the floor.
"How are you doing?" Heather and Bailey asked in unison. They laughed, and Picket joined in. It was good to see a smile on his face.
"You first," Heather said once she regained control of her laughter.
"No, you," Bailey replied, still giggling slightly.
"I asked first," Heather replied, lifting her chin slightly.
"Well, I asked most recently," Bailey retorted, trying to keep from smiling. They just stared at each other in silence.
"Just one of you answer already!" Picket exclaimed, annoyed with his sisters' pompous attitudes. They had a tendency to do this when one was trying to outdo the other in being polite.
Bailey couldn't contain herself any longer and laughed. Heather joined in. Picket just rolled his eyes and wandered over to sit in the chair.
Finally controlling their laughter, Heather said, "I lasted longer, which means you have to answer first."
"Fine," Bailey said, pretending to be put out. She then smiled and recounted what she had been doing for the past day or so, which admittedly wasn't much.
"Have you really only read Lord of the Rings?" Picket asked once she finished. He grabbed the book and flipped through it.
"Other than eat, sleep, and going to the little village this morning, yeah," Bailey replied. "It's probably mostly been sleeping though." She chuckled.
"Now you tell me what super interesting things you've been doing," Bailey said to Heather.
Heather then recounted her side of the story, with Picket occasionally interjecting.
"Too little salt is in-salt," Bailey repeated through her laughing, "Too much salt is a-salt! That is hilarious."
Suddenly Bailey stopped laughing and her eyes went wide.
"What is it?" Heather asked, worry on the edges of her voice.
Bailey got up and grabbed the book from Picket. She flipped through the pages until she found what she was looking for. "Aha!" she exclaimed triumphantly. "That's why they seemed familiar!"
"Why who seemed familiar?" Picket asked, his expression changing from worried to confused.
"Meriadoc and Peregrin," Bailey replied, as if that explained everything.
"Who?" Picket asked, looking even more confused.
"Merry and Pippin from Lord of the Rings!" Bailey replied, excitement in her voice.
"Isn't Strider from Lord of the Rings too?" Heather asked.
"That could be why I called Helmer that," Bailey replied, nodding and sitting back down.
"You've been reading Lord of the Rings too much," Picket said, grabbing the book from her, "It's not healthy."
"There's nothing wrong with it," Bailey replied, trying to grab the book back. Picket held it over his head. Bailey jumped up and tried to grab the book. Picket jumped backwards, trying to avoid Bailey. He tripped, falling on his back.
"Oof!" Picket exclaimed.
"Thank you very much," Bailey said, grabbing the book back. Heather was laughing. Picket smiled. It was nice to have some innocent fun after all that had happened.
Bailey's stomach growled. She got up and ate the food that Heather had brought. Picket tried to swipe some of her brownie, but Bailey swat his hand. They talked as she ate, reminiscing about times at home.
"I think we should head out now," Heather said, standing up, "It was nice to hang out though."
"Yeah," Bailey agreed, handing the tray back to Heather.
"Maybe we could have dinner here tomorrow?" Picket suggested, grabbing his crutches.
"Good idea," Heather said, "See you then."
"Okay," Bailey replied, walking to hold the door for them. "Bye."
"Bye," Heather and Picket replied. Bailey closed the door behind them. She climbed into bed and tried to fall asleep, but, having just taken a nap, she was having a hard time falling asleep. She tossed and turned for several hours before falling into a light sleep.
This chapter is a little shorter, but I felt like it would be kind of weird if she slept from lunch till the next morning, so I added something. I like how it turned out though. As always, any feedback would be great! I hope you like it!
Lol I love this!!! It was really fun to read and the little arguments (well, not really arguments - I don't know what to call them!) between Bailey, Heather, and Picket were so funny!!! Great job!!!!
