Disclaimer: I'm honestly not sure what to put here, so... Apart from Bailey/Broken Arrow, I do not own the characters. Um... other legal stuff... If anyone has a better way to phrase this part, please let me know so I can update it.
The next morning, Bailey got up just before sunrise and grabbed her dagger. She quietly slipped out the front door, trying not to wake anyone. Then she ran forward and leaped. She quickly gained altitude and soon was soaring through the air. She loved the feeling of the air flowing through her fur.
Bailey landed on top of one of the Seven Mounds, laying on her back to watch the sunrise. This was her favorite spot to be alone and think. She grabbed her dagger out of the sheath and looked at it. It was the most peculiar thing and it didn’t look anything like the sword Father had. He had said that was because it was made by wolves, but she could tell it was different than their swords too. Bailey had the dagger for as long as she could remember. Had someone given it to her? Had she taken it when she ran away? Bailey sighed, knowing that she would probably never learn where it was from. She put the dagger back in its sheath.
And what about the story Father had told last night? He looked so sad, but it was such a good story. And what would he have to regret in that? Or was he referring to something else the night before? She decided to just relax and enjoy the sunrise. Maybe she’d think about it later, maybe.
After the sun had come up, Bailey took to the air again. She glided for a little bit before deciding to work on some of her aerial acrobatics. She sped up and then adjusted the angle of her wings so that she did a loop-de-loop. “Woo-hoo!” she exclaimed, her smile a mile wide.
Bailey turned to the west and flew low over the trees. Then, she suddenly dropped into the canopy. She quickly rotated and flew between branches, swerving left and right. This was her favorite part of her agility training. Father and Mother said she didn’t need to, but she enjoyed it and it helped her practice her flying. Especially since she couldn’t fly inside.
Bailey flew through the top of the canopy and flew south. She flew a few miles out before turning around to return back home. She glanced at the position of the sun. "Ugh!" She exclaimed, slapping her forehead. "I lost track of time again! I just hope I don't miss breakfast." The last time she had been late, the oatmeal was cold and almost like glue. Mother had said if she missed breakfast again because of her flying, she would have to wait for lunch. It isn’t like Bailey was late that often, just once or twice a month. She flew a little quicker.
As she got within a mile or so of the house, she saw smoke. "Oh no." She flew faster and soon the house came into view. It was on fire and surrounded by wolves!
I hope you like it! This is a little shorter than the others, but it was originally going to be part of chapter 2, but it seemed like it was better as its own chapter. As always, feedback would be great!
So good!!!
