A post about Redeye over in the Battles and Events forum brought to mind a scene from Ember Falls. As it may have bearing on the plot of Ember’s End, I thought I’d bring it up here.
Upon learning of Bleston’s duplicity, Heather quickly assumes that Kyle is involved. However, as recorded on page 282, Perk replies in the negative. “Prince Kylen doesn’t know about this. He’s not even-“ At which point Bleston cuts him off with the quote I used for the post title.
What do y’all think Perk would have said had he not been stopped? Personally, I wonder if it might not have been some information about Kylen’s heritage. Could it be he’s not Bleston’s blood heir, and that-like Lady Glen-he cannot rule Natalia even were his father’s claim on the throne legitimate?
As a side note, how do y’all think Perk became an agent of Bleston’s? Was it something he chose without influence? Or could it be that Perkin One-Eye wasn’t the loyal friend of Jupiter he is purported to have been?
I have never thought of that and it doesn't ever mention Kyle's mother...
@Kilmarnock228 I never thought about that! That would be cool. Honestly, I don't know how Sam is going to fit all these unanswered questions in one book...
Yes, but what would the motive be??
I have wondered about that line for a while. I too considered the possibility that Kyle isn't Bleston's son. It's an interesting idea.
