I'm sorry if this gets long or just me ranting, but I want others to hear my thoughts on the end of Ember's End.
(I also didn't know if I should put this in the Ember's End section or the Characters section, but I think it fits better in Characters?)
Here we go...
I'm upset that Picket ended up with Wheezie and not Emma. Wheezie was the only introduced in Ember Rising, unlike Emma who was introduced in The Green Ember. Also one of the most inspirational quote in the Green Ember series is Emma to Pickecandidatet, "You can choose what you believe, Shuffler, but you can’t change what’s true." Wheezie's late introduction and small amount of character development didn't make her the best candidate for Picket's wife.
Picket ending up with Emma would have made more sense since they were so close during the first and second books. They also have a better couple name, #Pemma. I think that #Jemma is okay too, but not as good as #Pemma. Okay, I think I'm done with ranting for now. If anyone wants to debate why #Peezie is better than #Pemma leave a comment. Until then...
God bless and Bear the Flame,

#JEMMA
I agree with peezie, ALL THE WAY!!
It seems we look at Picket and Emma's side, but look at Weazie's side. She had a twin sister that was taken away and killed. There are twins in my family and the bond between them is extremely strong. If one of them were to die...it would be very hard for the other. Weazie's mother is broken and she has had to hold her together throughout her teen age life. Weazie needed Picket. A companion that had been through losing his family. Someone who can understand that though she may act tough, in truth she is hurting. Picket has been her protector as of late. Something she hasn't had in possibly years. What do you think would have happened to her if he left her at the end?
Ahh, the wars begin once more. #nothingendspeacefully. Weezie and Picket were DESTINED for each other. Emma is meant for Jo. #HurryupEmma. Weezie brought joy to Picks life in one of his darkest time. And as she was related to Helmer, that would officially make them family. Except he died. And that would make it even more respectable. Plus life and death situations bring characters together. I know what your going to say. Emma and Pick almost died at “The war at Cloud Mountain”, but Emma and Pick weren’t the only ones together. Also, Picket doesn’t think the highest of himself and is not the Fame King. At least, he doesn’t try to be. Therefore marrying one of the royals would draw attention and Picket doesn’t like to much attention. He just gives his all for the crown. Plus, in the First Fowler, Emma flirted with Jo a bit. Although you make a point of Emma being an original character, Weezie and Pick probably spent more time with him. Between the secret citadel, and Picket staying at the farm... Have your own opinion as @Ian G. said, but Ian and the rest of the #Pezzie team will have ours.
I'm still trying very very hard to stay out of this... Time for another verse! "Its the debate that never ends, It just goes on and on my friends. Some people started arguing Not knowing what it was, And they will keep on arguing Forever just because It's the debate that never ends..."
Honestly, I never really was too consumed with the #Pemma or #Peezie ships. XD I was too busy obsessing over Heather and Smalls' relationship (I started shipping them the moment Smalls first carried Heather all through Seven Mounds ). So I wasn't too bothered when Picket ended up marrying Weezie, although I do think Emma would've healed Picket better. But really, in the end, I was disappointed that Emma and Jo didn't end up together. Out of all of Emma's possible ships, I shipped #Jemma the most.
I might be the only person, but to me, Picket seemed completely depressed. He lost his master and he couldn't adjust with the healing around him. I don't think it's because of Weezie, lol, but I think that Emma could've helped more.
I think Peezie only would because it was the mending. My ideal was that Picket and Emma got married, they BOTH accepted Weezie into their lives and helped her as best they could, Weezie found a different character (Lord Morgan, Idk) to marry (Cause even though I don't like Peezie, I think Weezie should have a happy ending) and Emma and Picket became a symbol of healing. There would be two kings and two queens like in Cair Paravel though Smalls and Heather would do most of the ruling. You're probably thinking, what about Jo?? I think Jo would be a Lord Captain in Helmer's place. He would become the grumpy old soldier of the younger generation. But he'd be content in his devotion to the crown, and he'd get so much joy training the new soldiers.
Needless to say, I was disappointed with the end. I think True Blue and the sword breaking meant that Jo couldn't train new soldiers and Picket and Emma couldn't bring the healing. I still think mine is better, lol.
@JoLongtreader stop complaining about your mother...lol...
ughhhhhhh here we go again! lol.
I honestly don't know how I feel about #Pemma anymore? It was fun while it lasted but it wasn't my favorite ship, (me being a passionate #Jemma shipper myself) I do believe it was never meant to be...Also Emma never picked anyone (not even Jo Augddkqhgdiudiud) and she obviously was content to stay single!
Thanks, your arguments are good too. I do think we should #agreetodisagree.
I do understand you, but I think #Pemma wouldn't have been as compatible because Picket really looked up to Emma. Picket didn't look up in the same way to Weezie. And I'm not certain, but I feel like Emma was older? Also, Weezie and Picket both went through really dark times and I think because of that they're more able to lift each other out of the dark times that come, though the similar/shared experiences. Picket and Emma had more of a sibling closeness in the first books. But I do understand what you're saying, that Emma could encourage Picket in a special way that Weezie doesn't necessarily. #agreetodisagree :) Your arguments are good.
I've been shipping #Pemma since the beginning. I was hoping Weezie would have development in EE so that I could be able to enjoy #Peezie, but she received basically none. Maybe if Weezie had been introduced in EF, then it would've been better but as it was, we watched the hero, who many of us were attached to, marry a stranger. Nobody could convince me that Emma+Picket isn't the perfect match. It's clear to me that Picket needs someone to bring life and light into his life from time to time. Picket really needs a healer. I could see that Weezie didn't have the ability to lift Picket out of the darkness, she had her own darkness to deal with.
Emma needed a rock, someone to depend on and to be there for her no matter what. She also needed someone to protect and heal. Her healing was much more than just physical healing, and she needed to bring the light to people and to have someone close to her to accept that light.
It always seemed obvious to me that Emma and Picket lifted each other up in a way that Picket and Weezie didn't.
I didn't enjoy the end for Picket. I wish he hadn't married Weezie and became a farmer on Helmer's land. It was as if he was fulfilling Helmer's legacy and not his own. It seemed like he was doing it out of guilt and sorrow, not joy and love.
Heheh, I would give a rebuttal to this, but there has already been the Great Shipping War of 2019 and multiple (very long) threads full of people debating it. You can read those at

Anyways, I liked Picket and Weezie in Ember Rising, and Ember's End made me like it even more. I'm most likely never going to change my mind. (You are still entitled to your opinion though)
