The debate of the ages: Who is best for Picket?
It started off looking very much like Picket was undoubtedly going to end up with Emma, while Heather with Kyle or someone. But taking recent events into account, including the revelation that Emma is Smalls’ sister, we all must agree (however unpleasant that admission may be for you) that the horizons have shifted. It seems, if all goes to plan, that Heather will end up with Smalls. So, the huge question always lurking in the back of our minds has now become—does Picket belong with Emma or with Weezie, and why?
Your thoughts?
i think it should be Emma and Jo
quick question: is anyone debating who Emma should marry?
because if not someone should start it.........
[i probably just started something] *rolls eyes*
As much as I want to say Emma I agree with you @Ginny Weezly yhst would be awkward so I have to say weezie
Even though we both read Ember's End, a friend and I nearly started a war on Picket on several occasions, one was shipping and the other was if Picket betrayed Helmer.....
I feel like I'm coming into this a bit late, but I ship #Jemma, so I guess that makes me a #Peezie shipper by default. Picket might have had feelings for Emma, but after he found out that she was a princess, it turned their relationship into a soldier-protecting-his-monarch relationship instead of a husband/wife one. Jo didn't change how he saw Emma after he found out, so that's why they are perfect for each other.
Picket & Weezie. I do think that the brother/sister in law marrying thing is a little weird...
I'm not sure I've ever given my opinion on this subject, though even in Golden Coast I've read and been entertained by you guys' debates. So: I really like Emma. And Picket. But they act like siblings too much for me to see them get married. They're great friends, but I think it's nothing more than that. I don't think there's anything wrong with Pick and Heather marrying siblings, but it doesn't seem like S. D. Smith would do that.
Also, don't get me wrong: I don't especially like Weezie. There's nothing really wrong with her, it's just her character hasn't developed enough yet. I don't know her well enough because she was just introduced (taking into account the fact that Ember Rising was released nearly a year ago). Maybe once Mr. Smith develops her character more, I won't have any objections. She could be an awesome character. I think the main objection to her is that we all know and love Emma well, but we just met Weezie.
Another point is that Emma & Jo would be really cute. They always joke around, etc. There's probably more I haven't seen yet because I'm still not finished with The First Fowler, but I think they would be good for each other. There might be something with that lord's son, Morgan, but I don't really like him. Emma knows Jo much better.
So there are my thoughts. In conclusion, I think Picket will most likely end up with Weezie. The story seems to be leaning towards her and not Emma.
Did I do that again?!
Pick and Emma. They were first, they'll be last. Just watch (I hope).
Sorry, think I sent that to the wrong thing.
Personally, I like to stick with the original. While I think Wezzie and Picket are cute, just go back to The Green Ember and you'll see what I mean. Plus it means both Heather and Picket will be royalty!
E: So, you must be Weezie oh! That makes this round easy. Yes, my name is Emma some would call me the gem of the north you better know your worth yea, tighten your girth love, because, you? No one has heard of. Me? I am a freakin Queen! Oh, you poor baby! Did you lose your daddy? So did I! Not once but twice, sure I was raised in a little paradise, but at least I didn’t have a knife to my throat, honey dear, you might want to take a note, cuz these rhymes are so dope even I have to stop.
lol this is a response to my own prompt, I feel like I am the only one doing any of the prompts...
The Return Of Shuffler :3
W: Clearly Picket didn’t get his point across, he wants me, not the spoiled sister of his tiny boss. He said it, clear as day! He wants me, not your stupid face. I am Picket’s, and he is mine. Do you need any proof? Look up page 429!
@Ginny Weezly Wait. What if Picket dies at the end of Ember ends?
THEN NO ONE GETS HIM *continues with evil laughter
This just keeps going, don't it? I think maybe every time someone continues this debate, I'll sing another verse...
It's the debate that never ends,
It just goes on and on, my friends,
Some people started arguing not knowin' what it was,
And they will keep on arguing forever just because
It's the debate that never ends...
You have heard my arguments in favor #emmet. I am ready to take on any arguments to the contrary. I am ready for you
I like both i am on the neutral side, but tbh I am just saying the most probable, not the most liked.
bc #peezie is the most probable, while I could but won't say that #emmet is the most liked.
Everyone made great points in this discussion! (And, people who are not involved in this debate, we are sorry for spamming everything up. I apologize for all involved.)
I am a tad late to the party, and I think everyone knows which side I take (For those who don't, three words: Down with Weezie.)
I can totally see how someone would, ya know, ship Picket and Weezie. I've thought about it some, and now I think I know my main objection to the whole #Peezie thing.
If she wasn't attached to Picket romantically, I'd be fine with her. But that's all- she'd just be fine. Not exceptional in any way.
When I was reading Ember Rising for the first time, I disliked Peezie from the start. Why?
Because it felt contrived. It was like S. D. had realized just a little too late that there would be something that would make it weird for Emma and Pick to get together (IDK what, maybe a weird family relation or something? Who knows what he has up his sleeve?) and so was like, "Um, forget everything that I implied about Pick and Emma in the last two books, here's a love interest, let's just crop her up out of nowhere and make her perfect in every single way, and after a few days of doing, IDK, Resistance things, let's have them go all boyfriend-girlfriend on us! And boom, the plot is solved!"
I'm pretty sure that's not what he meant to do, but that's what it seemed like to me.
If Peezie happened, it just wouldn't have the depth of #Emmet. There wouldn't be the backstory and history of Emmet, the slow blooming of friendship into love.
My two cents worth, call me if you need anything.
(Well, don't actually call me, cuz that would be creepy, but ya know. Just @ me.)
