I always had trouble finding the best quotes from the Green Ember series, so I decided to make a list of the most usable Green Ember quotes.
"You can choose what you believe, Shuffler, but you can't change what's true." -The Green Ember
"The Green Ember burns; the seed of the New World smolders. Healing is on the horizon, but a fire comes first. Bear the Flame." -The Green Ember
"Growing up is terribly wonderful. But often it's also wonderfully terrible...Enjoy your innocence, my dear. Even if it only lasts a day." -The Green Ember
"It's better to live as you will want to have lived, rather than spend your time worrying about the end. You are right here in your story. Don't skip ahead." -Ember Falls
"I am afraid...But I keep on loving what's on the other side of this fight, and that will have to make me brave." -The Blackstar of Kingston
"Our love is a treasure, but it's not the house we keep the treasure in.' Heather smiled through tears. 'There is a bigger world we fit inside, and we can't say yes to our love without saying no to the world. I can't. I know you can't, or you wouldn't be the one I love so much." -Ember's End
"One must either sacrifice for great accomplishment or sacrifice great accomplishment." -Ember's End
"There is no cost too high for doing what's right and no retribution great enough for doing what is wrong. To believe otherwise is to surrender our liberty to lies." -Ember Rising
"You're a leader. You lead by what you do and by what you don't do." -Ember Falls
Well, that's all I can think of right now. If I forgot any good ones, just tell me and I'll add them to my list.😉
oh ok, LA makes sense now thanks.
Thanks everyone!!
Man I love all these quotes! My top favorite quote is the one from Blackstar of Kingston... so good!!!
A favorite exchange:
Smalls: It was blind, crazy luck.
Lord Victor: Then, Your Highness, we shall have to learn to be lucky more often, and to be blind to the impossibilities. (Puts hand on Helmer’s shoulder). I think we’ve got the crazy part covered.
Also, what is LA?
Yes, I loved the first one, and I think I've heard the one from that author's note. I might add in some goofy ones just for fun when I get the chance.
This was a great idea! Love all the quotes! One we like to say just for fun is..
"May your intelligent scout and infallible guide lead you not to lose your fluffy backside." Ricker, The First Fowler...died laughing at that part...lol...
Its not a very practical one but its funny, but here are some better ones...
"It will not be so in the Mended Wood!"
"We're in this together." Whittle Longtreader.
Also this is not actually GE but its from the authors note at the end of LA..
"The best stories are not an escape from reality, but an escape into reality." Heidi Johnston
Thanks everyone for more quotes. I'll add them in this week when I get the chance.
Great quotes. Here’s some of mine. 1. Today we came together and fought together. We, who are many, became one fighting force. An unstoppable force. - Emma giving her speech and First Warren ER 2. I’ve come a long way since the days we knew one another. I have risen, like a bird in flight. -Daggler talking to Helmer in ER Old Enmities 3.The oath. My place beside you, my blood for yours, ‘till the Green Ember rises, or The End/the end of the world. On the new bookmark it say’s The End instead of the original one. That’s all for now!
These are all really good! The sixth one... That scene was so powerful, and tragic, and beautiful... I really need to reread EE.
Thanks! I think Maggie Weaver said the third quote, that or Lord Rake, I didn't see. Also, thanks @Saraina for the other quotes, I'll add them in when I get the chance.
My favorite quote which I also use very often is “It is what it is, but it is not what it shall be.” -Picket Longtreader
Btw, I have a question - who said the third quote? Maggie Weaver?
I love this!!! I'll add all these to my commonplace book if I haven't already...
Here are some others I love:
"It is what it is, but it is not what it shall [or will?] be." (not sure exactly which book - it's grown on me so much that whenever I hear someone say 'It is what it is' I automatically add 'but it is not what it shall be.')
"Dark as it gets, there's always a dawn." (EE)
"He hurried away, and Picket looked on, puzzled. Then he saw the prince put on an apron, tie it behind his back, and begin to serve." (EE. Not a usable quote but I love the message behind it.)
"It's too good, and bad, to not be true." (ER)
"Don't worry. Things will get worse." (ER. Lol, a little morbid, but a perfect Helmer line.)
Nice!
