Beyond Natalia Ch.1 The Beginning
Clover Jones had always wanted to know what lay beyond the open land of Natalia.
Ever since she was little she would look out her window and try to imagine what lay beyond the open meadows and the thick dark forests.
She wondered to herself and watched the sun rise into the great endless blue sky. Only to remember that this was war time and the mending was far from near but Clover believed that one day she would see what lay beyond the land of Natalia.
Clover was older now and since the mending had come she had nothing to do. She lived in Knew City with her older sister May.
Her parents had been killed in the last battle before the mending. Clover had been learning to be a nurse but she was naturally skilled with bows and was decent with a knife though Clover saw no use for these skills now.
It was early morning in Natalia and Clover sat on her porch looking across the dew covered grass. Dark blue flowers dotted the large hills that rose up like waves in the great seas of green.
Clover loved to describe things to herself and liked to think of it as writing a story of her life that would never be read but only seen by herself and the characters that found their way into her story.
Clover’s sister said if she thought of it like this then she could be like Queen Heather though Clover never agreed. Even Clover knew no one could be like Heather.
Clover heard her sister calling from inside the house and quickly got up and went inside. “Yes, May,” she said.
May was a tall young doe. She was grey with white spots and had big green eyes. She was beautiful and she normally wore a light blue dress. Clover thought that she would never be like her or as beautiful.
Clover had light grey fur and a white spot on her chest. She had dark wide emerald green eyes and she wore a dark blue dress.
May looked at her younger sister and smiled cheerfully. “Its time for breakfast.
Clover sat at the table and looked at her bowl of oatmeal. Clover didn’t feel hungry and she was struggling to tell May what was on her mind.
“May, I was thinking that I want to go on a trip.”
May looked up.”Why that's a great idea. We could go on a vacation somewhere and it would be great fun. I am sure Natalia has a great place to relax and have fun.”
Clover looked at her sister and shook her head."That's what I don’t want. I want to go somewhere outside of Natalia.
May looked like Clover had told her a cabbage could sing a song. She burst out laughing and after a few minutes realized Clover was being serious.
“Why do you want to leave Natalia, not to mention who knows what you could find. I don’t think you should Clover, not to mention I can’t keep you out of trouble if I am not with you.”
Clover looked at her sister and her face was cheerful.
“Then you could come along and if you don’t I will be fine.”Besides this isn’t war time anymore I don’t need protection like I used to.
May looked at Clover and sighed. “I suppose you're right but let's get two things straight.” You know I am not someone who likes the wood and I am not letting you go alone!
“Why not,” Clover said.
“I promised mom and dad I would always protect you and if you get hurt on your own out in the middle nowhere then you will be as good as dead.
“Fine,”Clover said,”I’ll bring Rowan, Quill and Susan with me.”
May looked at Clover. “I suppose I can’t keep you here with me always but you better come back safe!
Clover smiled. She was finally going to see beyond the great land of Natalia.
