This is an idea I’ve had for a while, but the cover reveal for The Archer’s Cup has reinforced it. The Green Ember books have some beautiful artwork, but it’s been sadly limited to very few subjects. I mean, Ember Falls came out four years and three days ago, yet we’ve just barely gotten our first Heyna art. It’s also only the second picture we’ve ever gotten of Cole, assuming that the third rabbit in an Ember Rising picture showing Picket and Jo is meant to be him.
A number of notable characters haven’t even gotten that much, including:
*Any of the Citadel Lords but Fleck, Hewson, and Booker.
*Most of the Six: Morbin’s got art, we’ve got a picture of Falcowit’s statue, and another of the eagle and hawk Jo took out. That leaves three others unaccounted for, not to mention it would be nice to get a pic of flesh and blood Falcowit...preferably pre-explosion.
*Lady Glen, Winslow, Whitbie, or Naylen; a picture of not dead Jupiter and a front view of Kylen wouldn’t go amiss either.
*We have quite a few wolf pictures...but not any of the ones with names.
*My boy Heyward, Captain Frye, Pacer, all of the Bracers but Jo, and various other resistance bucks.
*Perkinson, Daggler and the Black Band, the Commandant, or any Terralain officers.
*Harmony, Airen, Jone Wissel, the priestess, and various other female characters.
And that’s just the characters-don’t even get me started on the locations and objects it’d be nice to get art for. A Visual Dictionary seems an ideal way for us to get it. Plus, S.D. Smith could include trivia that he wasn’t able or inclined to work into the main series books.
@The Fowlers
I took a peak at how many characters have pictures in their articles over on the Green Ember Wiki: 50...out of 284 listings currently in existence. Now a number of those are groups and subcategories, but we also have some character articles we haven’t created yet. But it’s kind of crazy to think that only about 1 in 6 characters has at least one picture... and they’re not all the best pictures for really getting a look at the characters.
