****SPOILERS AHEAD****
Okay, before I start I need to say that I LOVED this book. Everything I have to say are just some of my thoughts about it and I think that the direction the book went was great!
So, at the beginning I thought that Lander needing to win over the Dreckers was going to be a bigger plot point than it was. I feel like a lot more could have been done with that dynamic but in the end that wasn't the main point of the book, which is fine, but I kept waiting for that to come up again.
Also, Grimble half dragon! Woah! I didn't see that coming and now I have so many questions about it. I think that the moss draft is really interesting and I want to see more of it.
On the same note, I also thought that Holly needing to die to finish the transformation was going to have a bigger impact than it did.
Wait... Is this the last of the GE series? I was under the impression that it was, seeing how the main series is over, but it just occurred to me that that was never actually said. Is there going to be a fourth Old Natalia book? If there is than that would expand on the whole moss draft/half dragon idea which would be cool.
Okay, last thing. Do we know who the Pilgrim is??? Did I miss something? My bet has been on Massie and I was hoping for some evidence but I didn't see any. If there is something I missed PLEASE tell me.
Also, the Jack Zulu cover looks really cool!
P.S. I listen to the audio books so I might have misspelled some things.
Drekkers is spelled with two ks. It’s just like Trekkers, but with a d instead of a t. I totally get you; hearing something read doesn’t necessarily mean you know how it’s spelled. I think the Drekker plot line may have suffered from being tied up with the contention in Lener’s Crossroads. Lander and Lem reaching out to them, and Whitson asking for their help, were big things. But in the end, the main issue was that a bunch of rabbits didn’t want Whitson as king anymore, and once he was dead it pretty much smoothed all that over.
Grimble’s transformation was definitely a surprise. I wonder if trying to kill Hollie so he can try and complete it might come up in the future. The Green Ember universe isn’t over; Sam has stated that he has things he will or may do. No idea if more Tales of Old Natalia are forthcoming, but we may get some more stories set in the same period.
Still no word on the Pilgrim. The current favorite is the first Lord Captain, Massie Burnson.
