So my Dad and I are both massive Star Wars fans; my father being of the generation that were children when the Originals came out, and I being of the one that grew up on Clone Wars and Anakin Skywalker's anger issues as our guiding moral compass. (for legal reasons, that was a joke).

And I write fanfiction.

Like a lot of fanfiction. Very quickly.

And Star Wars has been my Roman Empire for a very long time. A couple of months ago my Dad started talking about this idea he had of redoing Star Wars (Save your screams) as a miniseries, with each movie being a roughly five to eight episode long season.

Before you go running for the hills, hear me out; The Originals-A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and the Return of the Jedi-didn't plan for, y'know, the monolith Star Wars is today. There are certain characters that are super important to the Saga now that aren't relevant in the Originals. There's also the.....interesting relationship between Luke and Leia that we all just pretend doesn't exist because they're twins and it's icky. Plus, a miniseries would give the story more time to breathe, allowing for a more character-centric take on the story and more time to explore the world. The Empire could be better established, and organizations such as the Inquisitorious (the organization of Dark Jedi working under Darth Vader, for those who don't know) to be shown.

As for the Prequels.....I think we all know. Pacing problems could be fixed and characters that were originally relegated to the Clone Wars (Like Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex, both of whom played important parts in Anakin's fall to the Darkside) would have a chance to be meshed more cleanly into the story. The weird age gap in The Phantom Menace could also be fixed here, because that was......that was a weird choice Lucas, don't know why you did it twice 🙃, and the frankly abysmal scriptwriting in Attack of the Clones could easily be corrected. (if I hear the 'I hate sand' meme one more time-!)

At this point if you've read this far, you either really like Star Wars or you're a really patient person, and you deserve a cookie🍪

I'm not gonna talk about the Sequels, cause I think that it's a given that they need to be fixed and probably just re-written entirely.

So that was my Dad's idea.....well, at least it initially was my Dad's idea 😅. When he originally brought it up, It was because I had recently re-watched the Phantom Menace and decided, mostly because I felt cheated out of young Anakin and Padme, to rewrite the entire thing. That and Jar-Jar. Jar-Jar is annoying. Filoni tried to fix him, it did not work.

So my Dad's been helping me brainstorm my way through this because hey, sometimes it's just great to do something for fun. And I'm 40,000 words deep into a Phantom Menace re-write that changes a few things, uh, pretty significantly.
