So, yeah, Helmer's sword: a pretty great piece of equipment, kind of normal sword with an emerald in the hilt. Now, we know he has it in The Green Ember, and later, in Ember Falls, he still has it. Not a problem, right? But here's the thing that was bothering me last night: in The First Fowler, Helmer assumedly has the same sword. BUT. Helmer, Jo, and Heyward had to bend their swords into hooks, latch them into Lord Solus, and then they blew Solus up. So what happened to the swords? One would assume they were also blown up. But The First Fowler takes place before Ember Falls, meaning Helmer's sword would already have been blown to bits. But he still has his sword in Ember Falls! Honestly, this is bugging me, and It's probably just my weird observation, but it's still bugging me as to how he got his sword back. It's probably also one of those things that came from writing a prequel after a sequel, but yeah.... I need to stop being so observant about trivial details that no one else cares about🙃

Fun!
I'm surprised that I never noticed that! It makes sense though, sometimes prequels make holes in the story line that go unexplained, like with the 3rd Jo Shanks book, which was written after the last book in the main series, in which we meet Lokson and Amber but they never show in the mended wood.
Looked through the book, and both Helmer and Jo have swords during the confrontation with Solus. I would guess that either they brought along some extra blades with them, or they got the swords they used for the bomb from some dead wolves.
Hmm, never really noticed that...but now its bothering me...I really need a reread soon...
whoah! cool! i didn't notice that!
Well… I haven’t finished reading/listening to the first fowler, but maybe he just held onto the emerald and put it in his new sword…? I don’t know 🤷♀️
