Hey guys! How are all of you? Anyone who comments has to answer. Also, I'd love critique, but it isn't required. ๐ Love you guys!
My ears rang. My head was spinning. I didn't want to wake up - didn't want to face the light and noise. I only wanted the pain to go away. But I opened my eyes anyway. The light blinded me as I tried to lever up on my elbow. I collapsed back to the ground. What had happened? I concentrated, trying to clear my foggy brain.
Now I remembered. The wolves. Where had they gone? What had happened? Stumbling to my feet, I glanced around the room, searching for my bow. I retrieved it from a corner of the room, before hurrying from the room.
The hall was strangely quiet. My eyes darted all around, at every moment expecting an attack. Everyone else must still be fighting the wolves. I bit my lip, wondering anxiously how long I had been unconscious.
The hospital was crowded with doctors, nurses, and injured soldiers, as well as many other assistants and volunteers. I searched the crowds for Lord Ramnor, but had little success in finding him. The uniform of a passing soldier drew my attention. He wasn't one of our soldiers. He appeared extremely strong, and his clothes were all of black, covered by a breastplate with silver stars.
I stepped up beside a Halfwind soldier who was seated on a bed waiting for a badly injured leg to be treated.
"Excuse me, sir. Do you know what is going on?"
The light grey buck turned toward me, his face as though he were dreaming.
"The Silver Prince fought back the wolves, Miss. He saved us all! We've wanted to win this coming war, and now we have a chance! It was a miracle! You should have seen him."
"The Silver Prince?" I prodded.
"Yes, Miss. That is what everyone is calling him. He fought as though he were a god." His eyes shown with hopefulness at the remembrance. I tried to picture it all, for a moment forgetting what I had come for.
"Do you know where to find Lord Ramnor?"
"That's another thing, Miss. Lord Ramnor is... dead."
I stumbled back. My knees went weak, and groped for something to hold onto. My mind went blank, but for one word.
Dead.
I gasped, feeling hands on my shoulders. I jerked away, catching sight of the large dark brown buck who had tried to comfort me. A soldier of the 'Silver Prince'. The grey soldier stared gratefully at him.
"I'm fine." Yes. I was fine. I had failed everyone else, though. How many rabbits would I lose?
"It'll be alright. Lord Bleston is a true leader. You can get as angry as you want, though. I understand."
"And you're not angry? Lord Ramnor was a brave, selfless leader, who deserved everything we could ever give him. He gave us everything he had!" I began to walk away, but the brown buck followed.
"I'm Archer, by the way."
I tilted my head, slowly turning to face him.
"Archer? As in, that's your name? Do you shoot as well?"
"Mmhmm," he replied, holding up his bow. I nodded, and started to leave.
"What's your name?"
I scowled, stopping with my back towards him. Why could the buck not let me go?
"Rissa."
"As I thought. Lord Bleston brought only soldiers with him, and could use a scribe. He would like you to serve that role for him, since you served Lord Ramnor. Messages need to be sent to all of the nearby citadels, telling them of the recent occurances. Would you be willing?"
"Is Lord Bleston the Silver Prince?" I asked, biting my lip nervously.
"That is what some call him here, and I think he likes the title"
"Yes sir. I will do as you wish."
*just sits and smiles*
I like this so much. I love this fan fiction! I really like Rissa, I know I always say that but I really do love her!!! I donโt know if I trust this Archer guy... he seems suspicious.... I just donโt know quite yet....
Anyway, Amazing job! Iโm great now that I read this! And how are you?
