At about midnight, Pacer came to the door.
“All good?” Pacer asked.
“Aye.” I said, yawning.
“Get some rest, Fleck. I should have let you earlier.” Pacer said.
“Thanks.” I muffled a yawn, stepping away from the door and walking down the hall.
……………..
“Good morning, sleepy head!” I heard. I glared up at Jack, the only other awake buck in the bunkhouse.
“Go away.” I muttered, blocking his friendly punch with a pillow.
“Yes Fleck one-eye.” He said. I smacked him on the head with a pillow, grabbed my satchel, and leapt to the floor. I burst into a sprint, leaving Jack behind. I sped past tired rabbits and crashed into Wilfred. I fell over.
“Ouch.” I said. Wilfred laughed, offering me a hand up.
“It’s been a long time!” I exclaimed.
“Yes it has! I have to go.” Wilfred said. I grinned as he hurried off.
My happiness was interrupted by a bonk on the back of my head.
“Ouch!” I yelled, turning
“Sorry, lieutenant Cove, my fault.” Gort laughed. I sighed, hearing more scolding. I had enough of savory den drama for the day. I sprinted to the king’s garden.
