so @Dragon Girl asked me to do this, and it has been fun! so here yall go! Finding Helmer's sword! [I called it The Last Note for a Reason...]
Fleck winced. He stood up, leaning on his sword. He smiled.
“Wow Fleck. You almost got yourself killed!” Midnight exclaimed. Fleck laughed.
“Well, I’ve lived through Jupiter’s Crossing, Rockback Valley, Akolan, Shade Hills, and now a one-on-one fight with Gern. Nothings going to kill me.” Fleck Laughed.
“Your wounded.” Midnight pointed out.
“I’ll be fine.” He smiled. The battle raged around them, but he felt a flame of hope in his heart. He’d killed Gern, but no one would ever know. Except Midnight.
Fleck didn’t fight for honor or recognition. He fought for the cause. Fought because it was the right thing.
Fleck and Midnight fought through the war of wolves. It felt like they would win
And then they did. Sailing across the deep blue sky, sword in hand. Right. Into. Morbin.
And then it was all over. This war he’d fought his whole life… over.
It was wonderful. Fleck jumped in the air, waving his sword.
“FREEDOM!” He yelled. Free. Finally free.
Midnight laughed. “Are you okay?” she asked.
“Mentally or physically?” Fleck replied.
“Both.”
“Yeah. It’s just good to be free.”
“You already were free.”
“Yeah, but now everyone’s free.” Fleck smiled.
He looked around. Sure, there were injured and fallen rabbits all around, but Fleck could see the joy in that summer day. The trees in the distance had beautiful green foliage, the sky was bright and cloudless, grass poked up from the Black Gap, creating a green carpet. Fleck smiled. The Mending had been worth fighting for.
One thought still pressed in the back of his mind. Helmer. And Picket. And everyone… He had to find Helmer’s sword, for Picket. So Pick could have more than a memory. Something to remind him of Helmer.
He remembered what Pick had told him before the battle. And then, Fleck Justice Joveson was on a mission.
Tada! hope you likey!
