***Three days later***
The operation had been successful. At least that's what Tris had heard. From snippets throughout the days. She didn’t know who it was for, but it seemed important. She had spent the last days in bed, plotting and planning strategies. She knew she would have to leave, get away from all the rabbits in the household. They would turn out to be like her father once they knew what a disappointment she was. And she couldn’t handle that. Tris had finally found out what was wrong with her when one night she had started throwing up blood. It was internal bleeding, not something visible on the outside, and not something she would survive anyway. Even if these rabbits were kind right now they wouldn’t want to take care of her once they found out how bad off she was. So she had only gotten up when no one was around, and pretended to be asleep for the rest of the time. Picket and Weezie had only visited once, the night that someone named Nova had survived a horrible injury. And that is what had made her realize that no one wanted her and that she would have to run. Tears stung at her eyes, like acid that threatened to fall on her face as she lay in bed once more. She had heard earlier that day that everyone was leaving to visit Picket and Weezie today, to congratulate them for something. That would leave her and Nova alone in the house.
Stormy entered the room just as Tris shut her eyes. Stormy glanced around, as if checking for monsters lurking in the depths of the room that might jump out and attack, before shutting the door quietly. As soon as the front door had slammed shut Tris pushed herself off the soft sheets and opened her window, which was close to her bed. It was on the back of the house, so no one would ever notice her leaving. She felt weak as she scrambled onto the ledge, and she looked at her arms. A sudden wave of sickness crashed on her as she looked at herself, she was just skin and bone which couldn’t be healthy for her, she was fairly tall for her age. But it didn’t matter.
She thrust a leg over the window ledge and the brick scraped her leg, causing her to whimper slightly. She lowered herself down, which was quite hard when she was quivering so much. The grass was crisp and dry beneath her feet as she landed, making her legs itch like crazy.
Tris trampled through the small field until she saw a familiar part of the woods. She knew that to get to her house all she needed to do was take two lefts and a right. So she went the other direction. The forest grew denser as she moved on, and she had multiple cuts on her legs already before she decided to take a break. She hurled, splattering the ground with blood. She fell to her knees with a cry as what felt like a sword stabbed her chest from the inside, she would die soon. As if she were not in enough pain already something hit her on the back of the head, something hard. A long cold object was pressed against the back of her neck and she let out a sob as a familiar voice sounded next to her ear, sending crazed spittle to her neck and face. Her father had caught up to her, he must have been out cutting wood when he heard her get sick. How could she be so stupid. She was useless and an idiot.
“Hello.” He hissed, dragging the knife slowly down the back of her neck, drawing more blood then he might have intended. But if he had he didn’t let it show.
“So you thought you could beat me did you? Well you can’t. You are stupid, and ugly. You are useless.”
“Stop” Tris gasped, her head splitting in sharp bolts of lightning like pain.
“Keep talking, maybe someday you’ll say something smart. You can’t do anything. You can’t be loved, it's not possible.”
“Because I inherited genes from you” Tris spat, eager to die with some hurt thrown back at the buck who had ruined her life.
The knife dug deeper.
“You are irresponsible and a failure. I hate you. I only tolerated you because I felt bad for you, anyone who has ever seen you has only ever spoken to you because they feel bad. You are nothing. You are worth nothing.”
“I know.” Tris screamed, though it came out raspy, her throat felt like it was on fire.
She couldn’t fight any longer, she didn’t know why she had been.
Her father laughed sourly, “Stop being so dramatic, you’re over analyzing everything. You can’t run, you’ll never survive without me.”
Tris stayed silent now, she couldn’t struggle, it felt as though every muscle in her body were protesting her moving. She felt strong arms grab her roughly and grip her extra tightly, as if to make sure she was hurting. “Where are you taking me?” She breathed, hoping some defiance was still able to be heard in her voice. “We’re going to Wandalia. No one will find you there, and that Picket will never see you again. He can’t steal what’s mine, you don’t deserve to be loved by your father and I’m going to make sure you never do.”
Tris laughed sadly, “He never loved me like I was his daughter, you’re right. No one ever loved me, and no one ever will.”
The next thing Tris saw when she awoke to a blast of freezing water were the unfamiliar streets of Wandalia. Where no one knew who her father was, or what he had done.
Xavia stood in her room looking at the various things flung on her bed. They had gotten back from Picket's to find Tris gone. Nova was okay but Tris was just missing. Xavia shoved the stuff in a pack and headed to the back door. Tristan was Cassian we're both going to look for Tris, and Stormy had run off staying she would soon be back.
She and Stormy had formed a plan. Tristan and Cassian were going to go without them and told them to stay and take care of Nova. As much as Xavia loved Nova though, she wanted to help find her friend, and so did Stormy. Stormy said she knew a way they could go, and so Xavia had gotten everything ready while Stormy went get whatever it was that would enable them to go.
She looked out the back door and saw Stormy hurrying back, with the buck from the barn, Lallo. As they reached the back of the house Lallo looked at the two of them and said, "I don't mind watching him for a few hours, but be careful with whatever you are doing." He eyed the pack Xavia had and frowned.
Before he could say anything else, Stormy grabbed Xavia's arm as she said, "We need to catch up with the bucks, thanks so much, Lallo."
Xavia followed Stormy, wondering what she had told Lallo, apparently not what they doing. She hoped Tris was okay.
They meet the bucks as they were heading back. "Did you find her?" Xavia asked, hopefully.
"No, we found sign of her. But we didn't find her. We're heading to town, but we wanted to check on y'all first," Cassian said smiling, as he rubbed at a slowly growing bump on his forehead, apparently, he had once again hurt himself.
Tristan glared at the two of them. "I thought I told you guys to watch Nova?"
"Lallo is watching him," Stormy said standing tall.
"And we're coming with you," Xavia said tilting her chin up.
Tristan sigh and turned as he said, "Than keep up."
They ran to First Warren to try and see if anyone had seen Tris. They were about to give up their search when a buck had told them someone like that had been taken on a cart by a buck. The four young rabbits wasted no time in getting on the next cart, fear in their hearts for their friend who seemed to be in trouble.
Dah, dah, dah,....hang in there Tris! There's ours!!
Eeeeeeh! This was so good!! Agh! I hope they find Tris!! (Btw, whose next?)
