Enjoy!!! I've been busy and haven't had much time to write much :( but I finally finished this one so yay!
The smoke was rising slowly, engulfing Rhys’s face in black clouds. He coughed slightly, continuing to mold the thick wax with his hands. Rhys’s smile was forced as Vell entered the roof top, a grin on his face and a mixture of fluids prepared. “Ready?” Vell asked, coughing loudly, his face paling. Rhys’s brow furrowed with concentration, but he nodded, finishing the seal on the cover. The moon gleamed brightly, sending rays of light around them. Rhys handed it to Vell, a smile on his face as Vell dropped two vials inside, smirking. “Done.” He announced, holding the sphear up to the light. Rhys let out a shaky breath and the cool air around him turned into fog. “How will we tell the does?” He asked, frowning. “Well, we just tell them.” Vell said, shrugging as if it were the easiest thing in the world.
“Vell!” Rhys yelled, “They gave us forty-eight hours and we’ve spent thirty-eight! How are we going to tell them, we have only ten hours and competition is in fourteen. We have to talk to them now.” Vell sighed, “Fine. Let’s go now.”
“Yah. But we have to get past the guards.”
“No we don’t. We can jump to the other roof.” Vell said, coughing loudly again. Rhys sighed again, angry at the way his voice shook again when he spoke, “Fine. Let's just get this whole thing over with.”
Vell laughed “Lets go my friend!” He backed away and made to leap to the next bunkhouse. Rhys felt the feeling in his stomach, like he shouldn’t be here, like he should be in his bed sleeping the night away. But Vell had already started running, he landed on the roof with a thud and rolled over multiple times. Rhys glared at his friend but took a running start as well. He landed on the roof with a crack and a bord snapped beneath him, he let out a cry of shock and pain as his ankle twisted backward. “Rhys!” Vell hissed, rushing over. The pain was spreading to Rhys’s leg now and he bit back another cry. “I’m fine.” He growled, standing as quietly as possible. “I’m fine. It’s fine. Everythings fine.” Rhys said, clenching his teeth against the sharp shocks being sent up his legs. “Okay,” Vell said, though uncertainty was clear in his voice. “Just be careful.”
“You think?” Rhys snapped, hobbling over to the roof door. Vell opened it and slowly climbed down the ladder, grinning. Rhys gripped the sides and let himself slide down slowly, glad he had strong arms. Vell had disappeared and Rhys glanced around frantically, the room was dark. Someone tapped his shoulder and he spun. Vell was behind him with two dark figures. Rhys pulled himself back onto the roof and was immediately surrounded by figures. “Rhys, get up.” Vell said impatiently, earning a scowl from Rhys. “I’m legitimately hurt!” Rhys said sarcastically and one of the figures bent before him. “Are you alright?” Amy asked. “I’m fine. Now leave me alone.” Rhys snapped, “The bombs done. That's all you need to know.” He growled, feeling his ankle, it was most likely fractured. “We will set it off during the games.” Vell added, Kat moved closer to him and whispered something in his ear. Rhys’s eyes drooped with tiredness and he heard the whispers fade slightly. Before he could say anything else the world faded and he drifted into sleep.
